More than 1 dtu

Hi,

thanks for these software, i love it.

But i have 2 DTU, 1 ahoy-dtu and 1 opendtu.

Is it possible to include both dtu's and how?
I tried a lot but it didn't work.

Sure, I do it like this. Copy the directory in /data/ rename it to dbus-opendtu2 or whatever and start it. Runs fine. Let me know if this solves your problem

Why do you run 2 instances, you could have both Inverter with 1 DTU, or you do it like Maurice said.

I have a shelly 3EM to and i controll both Hoymiles with my raspberry with node-red. Node-red send and got date from the dtu every 5 second and i saw this is to much for 1 DTU, so i use 1 dtu for 1 hoymiles.

Also with a ESP32? you can throttle the Request from our tool as well. to 10 seconds.

I don't want it slower as 5 seconds, i wished i could set 1 second to not waste Energy from the PV

Hello, I have the same requirement, namely 3 openDTUs that I want to regulate as quickly as possible via Node-Red. I have understood that it is possible to install several openDTUs on the Victron system. In my case there would be three openDTUs. Unfortunately, I am failing in my attempt to implement this on the Venus device.
My understanding is that you create a new directory for each openDTU instance (dbus-opendtu, dbus-opendtu1, dbus-opendtu2) on the Venus OS. That works for me so far. But then I can't create a copy of the openDTU, the system "complains" that it is a directory. Sorry, I'm not very experienced here -> could someone help me with the specific command? Thank you very much!

Please post your commands and output from your terminal. It's easier than to see where the problem is.

Well, it's not really a "problem" in that sense.
At the moment, an openDTU, which queries and ivisualises 3 inverters, is installed on Venus OS. This works well so far.
But the openDTU with the ESP32 is getting slower and slower per inverter. And to get round this, I would like to use a separate openDTU for each of my three inverters.
This means that two more instances are to be installed on Venus OS: data/opendtu is there.
data/opendtu1 and data/opendtu2 should still be added ... but I'm failing because my knowledge here is very limited :-) ...
That's why I'm asking specifically how to configure two more instances of opendtu1 and opendtu2 in addition to the standard configuration under /data/dbus-opendtu.
I can create a corresponding directory with the names data/opendtu1 and opendtu2, but then I can't get any further ...

well, if you duplicate the dbus-opendtu folder in /data, you can repeat this as often as you like. only the name has to be unique. you can have a separate config for each instance and start the services/instance either manually with python dbus-opendtu.py or install it as a service with /data/dbus-opendtu[any number]/install.sh.

You can also refer to the installation instructions in the readme and add 1 or 2 to the target folder.

Sorry for asking, but do I understand you correctly that I first create a new directory with opendtu1 and opendtu2 under data.

And then I start the whole thing per dtu with /data/dbus-opendtu1/install.sh and /data/dbus-opendtu2/install.sh ... ?

And the config can then be found under nano /data/dbus-opendtu1/config.ini or nano /data/dbus-opendtu2/config.ini

Right, just do it as you would with the normal install procedure. Once you have these folders, edit the configs first before running the install scripts (these start the services and you want the new config to run).

Check the content of data/dbus-opendtu1/

ls data/dbus-opendtu1/

Maybe a folder was created inside of it or the files are missing indeed. Basically you simply have to extract the zip archive and copy the content twice into your directories. In the end you need to make the files executable by changing the x flag. You can also use winscp if it's easier for you.

As you can see, you need to move the items from the subfolder to the dbus-opendtu1 folder. Just use winscp, it works like any explorer. Select all items, press ctrl+x (cut), go one dir up (dbus-opendtu1), press ctrl+v (paste).

I think if you're in the /data/dbus-opendtu1 folder, you can also type this command mv dbus-opendtu-main/* ./

You need to adjust the config in each folder and every inverter needs its own instanceID which must be unique

I think it's a problem of the rights for opendtu1.

If I try:
/data/dbus-opendtu/restart.sh
it works fine.

If I try:
/data/dbus-opendtu1/restart.sh
the system say:
Permission denied

This is probably because it wasn't installed in the first place. You can check if it's run generally by entering the directory (dbus-opendtu1) and run python dbus-opendtu.py

You can also try to run the commands from the scripts separately. Restart.sh just kills the process and the service starts a new one. This works only if there is a running service

The install Script expects to be called from ~ and reads the target directory and installs the service.

The cleanest way should probably be the "direct" installation in the folders /data/dbus-opendtu1 and /data/dbus-opendtu2.

Unfortunately my knowledge is very limited, so it is not possible for me to install the script directly in the folders /data/dbus-opendtu1 and /data/opendtu2 without help.

Can you edit the necessary script commands so that this works?
