Unity Indicator Support #9
Comments
I myself flew from Ubuntu when Unity became ubiquitious...but as there seems to be a Python API this might be possible to implement. Are you able to experiment with that? |
I can experiment, yes. Just won't be pretty as I don't have any Python or Gtk experience. |
Would be very useful. I use Nagstamon in our daily business and it is very good but I miss the app indicator. |
I think there should be two options here: Firstly, we should have the option to place in indicator in the panel, to fix the old behaviour. Additionally, I think there's a place for it to fit in to Unity's messaging menu. Additionally, I think there is some value in using lib-notify to prompt when there is a status change. |
It would be cool to have an app indicator which lists the different states (for example: down, critical) with an integer of the hosts which are in that states. |
Latest Github commit 044900a supports Ubuntu AppIndicator on a very basic level. Let me know if that works at your desktops too. |
As of 13.04 application whitelisting for the notification area will no longer be supported. Adding support for Unitiy's application indicators will help maintain userbase and provide an opportunity for a much needed facelift of the tray icons.
