I take a different approach by first looking at the existing reality in education in developed countries. As an educator experiencing different school systems, I think we can do better in how IT is introduced and/or used in the education system. If you consider the whole economy of developed country, IT is present everywhere. Very often, specialized computer devices are designed for a specific domain of the economy. The objective is to make the tasks as effective as possible, with both dedicated software and hardware. Sometime, only the software is specialized. I take the example of the cash register to illustrate how specialized to a given task can be a specialized computer device. The Dynabook aim is to be the cash register of education. In that sense, I want to read the reality in the classroom and think how a dedicated computerized device should be formatted both in its hardware and software to make this reality more efficient. I don't believe in revolutionizing how teaching is done, but to improve it for both the teacher and the learner. For example, you will have some features one may think insignificant as how are organized in the Dynabook the documents, the tasks and the assignments but those are reality both teachers and learners have to deal with, several times a day. Dynabook want to be as neutral as possible considering the learning models and it will accommodate to how a teacher wants to organize his teaching activities.

**---JR**: About the **reading** skill. Above you have written
> Dynabook intends to replace all these paper materials, notebooks and textbooks
and you have quoted research about the advantages of reading on paper, not on screen. I wonder if the Dynabook should substitute paper textbooks, or whether a balance should be looked for. Anything to say about this?
