Won't launch from desktop icon, just flashes

Thanks for your previous reply. I hadn't seen that the 'assets' was a clickable link. I got to the point of installing the Launcher on my desktop but it won't launch from desktop icon, just flashes.

I wonder if Microsoft had something to do with it. I doubt it but it tried a couple of the usual things to 'protect' me. One unusual odd one was to trick(?) me during the permissions process of installing the Holo Launcher to get my permission to activate and update Microsoft Edge which I have been able to avoid doing since I bought my computer a few years ago.

I also temporarily turned off the microsoft defender firewall. I had my Kaspersky anti-virus check the Launcher and it recognized it as safe.

Hi @Stormn12 . Hum... This is most certainly a bug coming from Tauri, but I can't really know what's happening without more information.

Would you be so kind as to try and get the log file for the Holochain Launcher manually? In Windows, that would be in C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\holochain-launcher\logs. Notice that the AppData directory is a hidden one by default, so you may need to activate this option to see it.

Also, please indicate the version of the Holochain Launcher you are using. Thanks!

Okey so it seems it's an issue related to WebView installation. Can you install https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2/ and try again?

Guillem, I've downloaded the file. I will install and then try hLauncher again tonight. I don't like microsoft and its manipulative ways. Until now I've been able to avoid 'updating' Edge on my laptop. So this could very well be the problem. If so, my apologies for the inconvenience. I'll keep you posted.
