Building

MSVC is not supported. On Windows you need MSYS2. To cross-compile from Linux prefer Quasi-MSYS2.

Make sure the source directory path doesn't contain spaces.

You need at least following: latest clang (tested on Clang 14; on Windows prefer the version from MSYS2 repos), GCC 11 (for libstdc++), lld, make, cmake, zip, unzip, tar, zstd, rsync, patchelf (on linux only), ldd/ntldd (for linux and windows respectively).

On Windows, install those from following MSYS2 packages: git make mingw-w64-x86_64-clang mingw-w64-x86_64-cmake mingw-w64-x86_64-imagemagick mingw-w64-x86_64-lld mingw-w64-x86_64-ntldd rsync tar unzip wget zip zstd.

On Windows, make sure you build from the MINGW64 MSYS2 shell, as indicated by the magenta text in the shell prompt.

On Linux you also need to install the dependencies of SDL2, listed somewhere in project.mk (or in SDL2 docs). On Windows we use prebuilt SDL2, so no dependencies are needed.

To build and run, simply do make. No -j... necessary.

If you get weird makefile errors, you might need to update make. Get source here, compile using ./configure && make && sudo make install.

If you get "permission denied" for /dev/pts/0, add MAKE_TERMOUT= to make flags.
