Describe the issue you are experiencing

Duplicate of #10163

Still having the issue that as soon as the energy from the batterys is greater than the home usage the visualisation thinks the energy is used in the home while it has been exported to the grid.

Down here you can see it on the right, in fact the home should not show the exact number that has been gone from the batteries but the sum of all values of:
Grid total -39.6
produced solar: 42.8
Battery total: -9.9
if you add this up the home used 6.7kWh

This behaviour is only there when the energy from the battery is larger than the energy used in the house. Here the day before:
afbeelding

Some days i keep energy in my batteries since i can sell the energy to the energy company at specific times for quite a good amount of money.

Describe the behavior you expected

Energy from batteries is not calculated as delivered to the grid but used in the house even if the gridmetering tells it went to the grid.

Steps to reproduce the issue

  1. Deliver more energy to the grid then you use at 1 day

By now updated to the latest version. I have 2 installations with the same behaviour.

Also, it only seems to happen if the energy to the batteries must be greater than the energy used in the house.

There hasn't been any activity on this issue recently. Due to the high number of incoming GitHub notifications, we have to clean some of the old issues, as many of them have already been resolved with the latest updates.
Please make sure to update to the latest Home Assistant version and check if that solves the issue. Let us know if that works for you by adding a comment 👍
This issue has now been marked as stale and will be closed if no further activity occurs. Thank you for your contributions.

This issue is still a thing, i have seen this behaviour on another setup as well, it still looks like to not being calculated well.

I have the same issue here, the calculations are not correct if your battery exports to the grid.

Please reopen as ongoing issue.

Some further examples.

5 July - low solar production - dashboard incorrect

Home Consumption = Solar Total + Battery Total + Grid Total
10.8 = 10.1 - 5.2 + 5.9

Dashboard shows home consumption as 25.2 kWh, which is incorrect.
image

6 July - high solar production - dashboard incorrect

Home Consumption = Solar Total + Battery Total + Grid Total
18.7 = 50.8 + 2.1 - 34.2

Dashboard shows home consumption as 23.6 kWh which is incorrect
image

7 July - high solar production - dashboard correct

Home Consumption = Solar Total + Battery Total + Grid Total
31.1 = 61.6 - 10.8 - 19.7

Dashboard shows home consumption as 31.1 kWh which is correct.

@frenck please reopen, this is still an issue as a result of an incorrect calculation on the energy dashboard.
@bramkragten would you be able to have a look at this issue please?

7 Nov 22 - high solar production - energy distribution graphic incorrect

Home Consumption = Solar Total + Battery Total + Grid Total
14.2 kWh = 100.1 + 5.9 - 91.8

image

Dashboard shows home consumption as 17.8 kWh which is incorrect, I also note all the incorrect readings have a teal (light green) circle around the house and the incorrect household value is the battery export value not the correct house consumption value.

It also still persist on the latest version:

Home consumption equalizes to the same value of the exported battery energy. If you send this energy on purpose to the grid this happens very often. This energy is not used in the house but is sent to grid because of high tariffs.

@purcell-lab called up to my attention that we already have several issues opened for what seems to be the same root cause:

#10163

#11947

#13701

home-assistant/core#83549

The oldest of which goes back to 2021, we're almost on 2023 and we still have this issue around, displaying wrong data whenever batteries are used and don't just charge from solar and discharge to house, or so it seems.

It would be really nice to see this fixed, as some of us like me depend on HASS to integrate different systems, manufacturers, etc on one single platform, and as it is right now we can't trust the values it displays.

I would suggest all scenarios get together in just one single issue that would stay open, perhaps the oldest one, and the rest could be closed as a duplicate, but it would be great if we got someone to have a look at this.

Personally I'm not a programmer so I can't help getting my hands on it, but I am fully available to explain the use case scenarios I have and to test anything the devs need to see tested, anything I can do to help, count on me.

Cheers,
-jprates
