First I'd like to say that this is my first time doing something like this and would like to apologize if there is already an issue for this.

Okay so this game continually crashes on me when in any area that is affected by the graphics bug reported elsewhere on every version of the PPSSPP I have used except for version 0.8.1-1647 and I have tried many. The first version I used after this one where it crashes is ppsspp-v0.8.1-1674

I have reported this in the official thread for this game on the forums with logs from both the working version and a newer build that crashes. You can find them here http://forums.ppsspp.org/showthread.php?tid=3225&page=5 It is the first post on page 15. Also I should mention that if i go up to the door in the my room area that works properly without any graphical glitches and turn of buffered rendering I can successfully leave the room without the game crashing and judging from the sound either make it to my spaceship or go shopping.

Now lastly I should mention that this is using the AMDx64 version which another member reported the game working on and recommended I use but my laptop refuses to run that version. Also my laptop uses an ATI Radeon x1250 graphics card.

In closing... (I really am horrible at this aren't I?) if you need any more info or log files or just want me to go away and leave you alone, let me know and I'll try to do so... Though if you choose the last one I'll still probably hang around the forums.

Well, that range is full of my changes.
v0.8.1-1647-g88b333b...v0.8.1-1674-g4f5ec45

Does PPSSPP itself crash, or just the game?

It could definitely be an ATI issue. What region is your game from? Is there an easy place to reproduce it, and if so, can you upload your savedata (I have the US version, and an NVIDIA card)?

Does it happen with default settings?

I have the EU version and the emulator itself crashes.

You can reproduce it anywhere the graphical glitches occur. The two easiest ways to reproduce it would be to either just go from your room to the center of glad six or start a new game speed through the dialog and just walk down the ramp at the beginning of the map. They both crash PPSSPP every time.

As for my save game, if you want it just tell me where you would prefer me to upload it. Though I would prefer to just add it to the post I linked to as I have no experience with uploading it to file hosting sites but I will do whatever you prefer.

Post would be fine but, if it's that easy to reproduce I don't need it.

So, I'm not seeing the crash, it's possible it's ATI specific or EU specific...

You don't have a compiler, do you? Seeing the stack trace would help.

Unfortunately, no. I don't really have any knowledge or experience with that sort of thing.

I'd like to chime in since I've the game and am also using an ATI card (ATI Radeon 4670).

I'm not experiencing the aforementioned crashes either, but I do have the US version of the game (ULUS 10529)

It could definitely be an EU issue or an even older ATI card issue (with the X series in particular, it's kinda a crap shoot when it comes to games compatibility. See this issue report by Danyal Zia :- #3085)

Tested on the latest 64bit master 0.9.1-753 using my Core 2 Duo T9550 rig with a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670 card.

Alright it's almost 2:30am here and I'm quite tired so I'm going to bed now. After I get up later I'll see about tracking down some friends with a working psp and a copy of the US version and give it a try. Then I'll report back with the results.

It's not crashing on my GTX 670 and the US version of the game, so perhaps it's a case of a bad GPU driver or something?

Okay I managed to get a hold of my friend and dump his copy of the USA version along with his copy of the first Phantasy Star Portable. I went ahead and tested both and they behaved exactly the same as the EU version of PSP2 that I have.
Because of that I'm inclined to agree with thedax about it being related to either my graphics card and its driver and an incompatibility with buffered rendering in this game. However it still seems odd to me that both will work just fine on 0.8.1-1647 well minus the already known bugs for those games anyway.
Oh well looks like if I want to play these games I'll need to either get my hands on another psp which isn't likely to happen any time soon, get a better laptop\PC which is even more unlikely, or wait for the text bug in the first one to be fixed and for the second one to be playable with buffered rendering to turned off.
Well either way I would like to thank you for taking the time to look in to this and for trying to help me. I wish you all the best of luck in the future development of this emulator.

Oh wait, does this only happen with buffered rendering disabled? I was testing with default settings.

Doesn't crash for me with BR off, but the trade-off is that I get a black screen, making it impossible to play anyway.

sorry if I was unclear earlier. Both games work fine with buffered rendering off other than the black screen in PSP2. It's only with buffered rendering turned on that the games will crash.

Hey great news! This seems to have been fixed by danyalzia and his fix for the clamping bug on older ATI graphics cards which I am very grateful for. Also thank again to every one who tried to help me with this. Since this problem has been fixed I'm going to close this now.

It looks like this problem is back. I hadn't played Phantasy Star Portable 2 in a wile so it took me a bit to track down what build broke it again. The last build from the build bot that worked with buffered rendering on is v0.9.6-79 windowsx64 and the first one that broke it is v0.9.6-80

it seems as though @unknownbrackets texture clamping fix broke this for me again.

I have a similar problem. I am playing the US version of Phantasy Star Portable 2 and at first everything is fine and I got to the end of the first mission.
But in the middle of the dialog / cutscene at the end PPSSPP suddenly crashes.
I got: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 - Intel i5-4670K 4x 3.40 GHz - GeForce GTX 760- 8GB RAM -
DirectX 11.

I'm normally using PPSSPP 0.96-190, but this crash is also in new builds from January 19th/20th
These are my settings: http://pastebin.com/P1X2Yfyu

And here is the debug log of the crash: http://www20.zippyshare.com/v/92357323/file.html

And here is a savestate just before the crash, just walk a little up and the dialog that results in the crash will start: http://www54.zippyshare.com/v/36721101/file.html

Hmm, has this ever worked? I never went that far into the game. Also, is it easy to reproduce this from a savegame (e.g. not from a savestate, in case the savestate is already "too late" and has saved the state of the problem already)?

Yeah, until the problem the game has no problems at all. And the save state is before the crash, you can go elsewhere and do other things, just there is nothing left because I already defeated all enemies and explored all areas in the first mission.
And I cannot save ingame yet.

I tried playing from the beginning without a savestate. For me it crashed in ATRAC3+.

Stay tuned for a less crashy FFMPEG, I'll finally have some time to setup the build and recompile it this weekend. If it crashes it is likely that it's reading junk data as ATRAC though so there's still some other issue.

I got past this part with the 32 bit version (I have win 7 64bit on a 64 machine).

There is a new problem though.
In the Little Wing main area no one has legs. For some reason only half or less of each model is drawn, sometimes I am nothing but a head.
But when I enter some area like shops, bridge, my room, etc. the model are displayed correctly again.
I saved the game and loaded it in the 64 bit version and there it has the exact same problem.

The problem just got serious as well, some enemies in the 2nd story mission are sometimes invisible.

main area log: http://pastebin.com/gHM8REQw
main area save state: http://www37.zippyshare.com/v/90008817/file.html

Okay, closing this then as the remaining problems are a dupe.
