about the ‘solt and pepper noize’

Just to pipe in real quick…checking out the processing pool. First, that movie is awesome. I love the look of it. Gimmie that. Second, the salt & pepper noise is totally my fault. In Processing, the units you’re using correspond to pixels, so you’re using numbers close to the order of 1000 In Sunflow, it deals with units that are in the (physical world) ballpark of millimeters. So, for default (read: fast) render settings, it’s expecting objects somewhere under 100 millimeters, but p5sunflow is sending shit on the meter scale, and moving the camera way back. You’d have to oversample quite a bit to have a ray hit every surface so far back. So, to reiterate, my fault. Objects will probably be scaled down 10x in the next release …but, you know. Sometimes seeing cool shit trumps sketching out multiplication matrices.

  • “resolution” and “bounding box” is different in Sunflow.
