ISU_PNNL-TESP

This is the repository of the ISU-PNNL project. Documentation can be found at https://itd-tes.readthedocs.io/en/latest/TESP_DesignDoc.html If you have any questions, please contact me at hieutn1223 at gmail dot com.

The complete version 1.0 of the ITD TES System is located in the zipped file: ITD_TES_version_1.0

We also provide Preliminary_ITD_Test_System_Work that includes the following folders and zipped files:

The "Matlab and Python Files" Folder has 2 files: 1) IEEE13_glm_writer.m creates and adds 180 houses to the IEEE13 test system. The topology checking can be done in this file 2) The price_generator.py generate price.txt with dynamic pricing signals for 48h at 1 min intervals.

The "Modified_IEEE13_with180houses" folder contains a program that simulates the "close_loop" market clearing simulation for 48 h, which is similar to te30. We test for the extended IEEE13 with 180 houses. All progamming aspects of TE30 example such as json communcation and agent registration are considered.

The "Open_Loop with Price.txt" folder contains a program that only tests the response of the IEEE13 system to price signals. No market clearing (auction.py) is considered.

The "Version 0" folder contains a program that constructs the baseload of all 180 houses, given weather scenarios, thermal intergrity levels, and thermal setpoints.

The "Version 1" folder contains a direct load control example for which different houses are represented by different processes (house_controller.py +houseID)

The "Version 2" folder contains a price-based control example for which different houses are represented by different processes (house_controller.py +houseID) using a PowerMatcher framework. Instead of direct load control signals, the DSO sends price signals which can adjust the number of HVACs turning on/off. The price signals are determined by considering the aggregated bids of all HVACs.

Note: You need to install fncs, GridlabD, ..., etc before running our program by following the instruction in https://github.com/pnnl/tesp (Note the python version should be 3.6 or 3.7)

I have recorded the PNNL installation file for Windows version here (just run the file and all components, e.g., gridlabd, fncs, energy_plus, will be installed) https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1pPP8GCb2_33pIOIfqwahBRmu1GWFg_I0?usp=sharing

Also, the number of processes connecting via fncs_broker (TCP/IP port5570) in Windows is limited by 2^N-2 (62=2^6-2 in my current laptop and 1022=2^10-2 in the computer I used for simulation in my paper) so you might want to limit the number of agents in your simulation based on your computer OS and hardware.
