As commented by @technomancy, Clojure 1.0.0 has the ^ macro, which returns the metadata of a value instead of attaching metadata to a value. We may be able to use this to omit the use of meta, which in turn may make this program even more Swearjure-complete.

Yup, that worked like a charm: 9399393 implemented this and removes the need for meta.
