I think that we have identified and fixed enough bugs for a patch release. So, as soon as the remaining fix PRs get merged I suggest releasing.

I will try splitting hyperspy.gui into a separate package for this patch release as installing HyperSpy in anaconda currently feels broken due to #1499.

I thought qt4 was fundamental to viewing plots outside of the %matplotlib notebook and %matplotlib inline backends. Wouldn't removing it as a dependency just open another can of worms?

I think that it'll be better to release v1.3 instead of v1.2.1 because fixing the installation requires including the ipywidgets which is a new feature.

Could you (PR authors) point me to the PRs including new features which should be feasible to merge in ~1 week?
