👋 We're looking for designers who would be interested in cleaning up the design of the site. Please comment below if you're interesting in helping out!

not sure if you're still looking for help but I could be of assistance, from what I have gathered this is a site for new contributors to get a commendation for their efforts but any more details would be appreciated so I can get a sense of my design direction

Hi @HurleyAndrew! Help is always welcome! Essentially we are using data from a GitHub app to list people who have recently gotten their first pull request merged into a repository. The goal is to show that anyone can contribute to open source and be welcomed.

Right now I think the next design step we wanna take is building out some nice profile cards for each contributor. This is what they look like now:

I think adding a border or moving around some information could really make this look cleaner, but I'm not the greatest designer, so pull requests welcome design-wise! Happy to discuss any ideas further as well!

@hiimbex awesome, do you mind helping me with setting up the site locally so I can work on it. I am new to github ironically enough i'm trying to get more into public contributions. When I went through the steps to get it running I got a couple errors and the site is just html not the full thing

Absolutely! So the steps I usually take to run the server are running

$ script/bootstrap
$ script/server

Usually if either of those fail they'll direct you as to what you need to install to make it succeed. Have you ever worked with jekyll or ruby before? We use bundler for our dependencies. Running script/bootstrap will automatically try to install them but you may need to set up bundler first. Let me know if you have any trouble from there.

I have not worked with those before, when I do script/bootstrap it says that line 7 and 8 script/bootstrap bundle: not found, where should I go for the bundler setup? *edit i just did gem install bundler but that didnt help the error form before

That means you need to install bundler and probably gems too. Gems can be installed here: https://rubygems.org/pages/download and once that is set up run gem install bundler then retry to commands specific to our site.
