A REALbasic library for validating UNIX crypt style passwords.
You can use the UNIXCrypt REALbasic module to simulate UNIX Crypt by simply calling “UNIXCrypt” with a string and two character salt.
Simply add this module to your project and call the UNIXCrypt function with a password and salt.
The salt should be a 2 character string.
If you are using UNIXCrypt to check that a supplied password matches a UNIX crypt encrypted string, the salt should be the first 2 characters of the encrypted string.
This is classic crypt, only the first 8 characters of the password count.
