Linux Mint 20 - Software Checklist

This repository contains a checklist of software that I normally install on a fresh Linux Mint system. Please, keep in mind that the list is tailored for software development, and as such does not necessarily represent the set-up of a regular LM user.

Repos / PPAs

Mandatory

In order to be able to install and/or get the latest version of the following software, add the repos mentioned below:

  • TLP (a power management tool, hence only makes sense for laptops)
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:linrunner/tlp
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yubico/stable
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install -y apt-transport-https
curl -s https://packages.cloud.google.com/apt/doc/apt-key.gpg | sudo apt-key add -
echo "deb https://apt.kubernetes.io/ kubernetes-xenial main" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/kubernetes.list
curl https://baltocdn.com/helm/signing.asc | sudo apt-key add -
sudo apt-get install apt-transport-https --yes
echo "deb https://baltocdn.com/helm/stable/debian/ all main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/helm-stable-debian.list

Optional

  • Chrome
echo "deb [arch=amd64] http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/ stable main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/google-chrome.list > /dev/null
wget -q -O - https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub | sudo apt-key add -
echo "deb http://apt.postgresql.org/pub/repos/apt/ bionic-pgdg main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pgdg.list > /dev/null
