Proposal

Just a small update to replace "SpatialImage" by "Map" (as this term was then preferred, cf. Minutes NIDM call 12/05/2014):

  • nidm:CoordinateSpace: An entity with spatial attributes (e.g., dimensions, units, and voxel-to-world mapping) that provides context to a Map SpatialImage (e.g., a StatisticMap, ContrastMap...)
Current definition (for reference)
  • nidm:CoordinateSpace: An entity with spatial attributes (e.g., dimensions, units, and voxel-to-world mapping) that provides context to a SpatialImage (e.g., a StatisticMap).

Could we be a bit more specific than "...provides a context to..." ? Or, given how we are using this in relation to CoordinateSystem we don't really need to be? As written, we don't seem to be using much of the mathematical definition: A space is defined as a set of points and then you can add things to that (metric space = set + ability to measure distances; coordinate space = set + ordered lists that define position of points, etc) Do we need any of that?

The suggested update is now implemented in #317 where the term status was set to "pending final vetting". This issue remains open to continue the discussion until we reach a consensus.
