MIT license incompatible with GPLv3 dependencies / 'base code' #30

The readme lists FortiusANT and RasPi-OLED-Menu as 'base code' that was used for the ANT+ and oled screen features. These projects are both licensed as GPL V3.
I am not a lawyer but my understanding is that given the viral nature of GPLv3 this project must also use that license and cannot use the more liberal MIT license.
