## Incremental Decommits
It is possible to _decommit_ or take some `UTxO` out of **L2** and put it back on
**L1**. To do that one can use the `/decommit` API endpoint or a dedicated
`Decommit` message sent using a websocket client. User needs to craft and send
a decommit transaction which then needs to apply cleanly to the **L2** ledger
state. This proves one is the owner of the UTxO it wants to take out of a
`Head`.
After `hydra-node` is able to apply decommit tx to it's local ledger state the
`ReqDec` network message is emmitted to all participants in the `Head`. This
message notifies all participants of a new decommit request and the decommit
transaction gets recorded to their local state. Next leader will try to include
the decommit `UTxO` into the next snapshot which is then signed by all parties.
After seeing the signed snapshot containing the `UTxO` to decommit
the_**decrement** transaction is put on the **L1** and re-observed by the
`hydra-node`. After this we say that the decommit is **finalized** and
corresponding `UTxO` is at this point present on **L1**.
