After installing the standard application after:
npm updade
I get
@ionic/app-scripts@1.2.2 requires a peer of typescript@~2.2.1 but none was installed

Shall we update typescript to 2.2.1 ?

Nope, this will break things in a non-v3-beta app.
We're in the progress of fixing this.
