ActiveRecord::Rack

Provides efficient enumeration of large result sets.

Build Status Code Climate Coverage Status

Motivation

ActiveRecord find_each is inefficiently implemented for complex queries. It orders by id and for large result sets this is O(N^2) or worse.

Installation

Add this line to your application's Gemfile:

gem 'activerecord-cursor'

Usage

In your config.ru, before any middleware that would use the database, insert:

# Middleware below this point may require database access:
use ActiveRecord::Rack::ConnectionManagement

It only works for servers which support cursors, which at this time includes Postgres.
