Suppose I have the following two files in a directory:

nb1.ipynb
nb2.ipynb

I open nb1 in the and rename it to nb2. Without any warning, my second file has been overwritten.

I think the notebook should ask whether I wish to overwrite the other file.

Thanks, this is a known issue (#2522 and #1702 ), we are working on it.
Closing as dulplicate.
