Store history as plain text

To be able to maintain a list of useful commands it would help if commands were simply appended to $IPYTHON_DIR/history or $IPYTHON_DIR/[profile_name]/history as plain text.

Not sure what you mean, recuperate the history ?

sqlite3 -line history.sqlite 'select `source` from history;'

We store the history in an sqlite database, so it doesn't make much sense to duplicate this functionality into a plaintext file (which we used to use before switching to sqlite for a variety of reasons). You can always export your history with %history -f FILENAME.
