How can I add a newline in a %%latex cell? As you can see in the image below, I tried a couple of ways to create a newline but none of them work.

I'd appreciate suggestions on the best way to write a good amount of LaTeX. On one hand, I like being able to edit, run the cell and look at the result, but in a presentation is awkward to have all the LaTeX code visible.

Why not use latex in a MD cell ?
Otherwise, I'm not sure mathjax support newlines.

From docs, \newline, \cr, \\ are only supported in align environments: http://nbviewer.ipython.org/5936168

Since mathjax is not true latex (it's mainly just the math part), adding a forced newline in the text area is weird. You would use regular HTML breaks (<br/>).

@Carreau That could be an option, however, I thought it would be more appropriate to use %%latex in a cell containing only LaTeX code.

@minrk Thanks. I didn't know that. I will use a regular markdown cell.
