It seems to me that the menu bar extends a few pixels to the left of the focus box.
(With the @ellisonbg/newux branch merged into master)

I guess this kind of issue will be solved with the move to less CSS.
What is the time scale for this?

If it is caused by that branch, please bring this up in the PR discussion.

This discrepancy is present in 1.0alpha: the menu bar extends slightly to the left of the left edge of the box marking the current cell. They should be exactly vertically aligned for better visual impact.

'Cmd-3' for all screen or 'cmd-4' for selection, or 'cmd-4','space' 'click on window' . It drops a PNG on Desktop.

Yes, it is. I don't find it shocking (I personnaly would prefer the menubar to take 100% as when I hide the toolbar it feels weird:
capture decran 2013-07-21 a 21 46 41

Before, (it's true it is more compact now).
capture decran 2013-06-03 a 08 47 00

That was with Chrome on Mac OS.
Exactly the same with Safari (which uses the same or similar renderer I believe).

On Opera it looks perfectly aligned though!
I guess this is one of those famous cross-browser CSS incompatibilities or whatever.
Currently downloading firefox...

Yes I see what you mean about the extent of the objects.
I think these are things to discuss in the dev meeting.

I guess this is the kind of thing that people will be able to configure to their taste with custom.css?

Not that obvious to do IIRC.
