This is really strange, but I'm getting no filename completions at all (and BTW, already checked that it's not the weird $PYTHONSTARTUP issue @takluyver and I tracked down in my office yesterday).

Typing open("/tm<TAB> provides no completions while /tmp/ obviously exists on my system. Checked with master on terminal, qtconsole and notebook.

This should be an absolute blocker, if it can be reproduced by others (obviously if it's something funky with my system, no big deal). I'll mark it as blocker just so we look into it to be sure.

Can't reproduce. Tab completion is working just fine on my system.

Also seems to be working fine here. @fperez , this was working for you when I left your office yesterday, right? I don't think much has changed since then. If you checkout a commit from yesterday, say cb06785, does the problem persist? If not, can you use git bisect to find out where it was introduced.

Mmh, there seems to be something odd with my default profile, in addition to whatever nastiness I had on my $PYTHONSTARTUP. With a fresh profile I'm OK now.

So this looks like a false alarm from a bad profile. I'll debug it on my end, thanks for checking, guys.
