Hi folks,

I understand that Kerberos support is being moved into the new authentication plugin #54 however, as I understand it, that is not yet released. 4.3.0 is released, however there is no corresponding plugin.

Is there a plan to release the plugin to allow people with it installed in 4.2.7 to upgrade to 4.3.0?

cheers

John

We hadn't heard demand for it, so it was not released.

Are you interested in using kerberos in a 4.3.0+ installation?

The conversation in this (closed) PR gives some of the rationale behind the decision: #57

The long-short is that Kerberos authentication can be facilitated via PAM modules and the pam_password plugin. Soon, the pam_interactive authentication plugin will be released (>4.3.0) and the full flexibility afforded by PAM can be leveraged in iRODS authentication.

That said, if we need to release this plugin for 4.3.0, most of the heavy lifting has been done, so it shouldn't be too hard to get this out if needed.
