I wonder if there's anything I can do to integrate cloudflare ( or something else )'s page rules function where I can redirect some endpoints to something. for example replit's having some built in endpoints that can't be removed unless you proxy it before linking to a domain. Since is-a-dev doesn't use cloudflare, i wonder if there's a way...

@hackermondev sorry to mention you but I think you're familiar with replit and wonder if you're able to help

I've heard that page rules allow you to make some endpoints redirect to links. I think that is the main usage of Page Rules. Currently, we are using Namecheap DNS and are unable to implement this. However, more research will be done on this topic in the future.

Sure! We have been discussing about switching to cloudflare. But since we have about a 1000 subdomains registered, it will be quite the pain in the neck. We just need a day when we all are going to be able to type in DNS records for a few hours, and we have to figure out the timings for the deed to be done as well.

well, maybe its possible to use cloudflare api to do all these as well as disabling cloudflare proxy unless there's some kind of comment or anything the mentions about having cloudflare proxy enabled

What we're really worried about is that maybe cloudflare has a request limit and maybe even has a DNS record limit. Plus switching would be quite painful.

You guys could eventually ask @js-org about this ( the request limit ) and you said switching would be quite painful, why not using the api to do so ? If I'm not wrong, those CNAMEs records will move along ( will not be removed ) after switching dns.

We're going to have to write a whole new devops thing and other stuff, most of the other members handle that, I'm mainly the support/approver.

Well, turns out there's another thing to concern about :

Still can't use the page rules feature, its limited. I wonder if there's other services that provides page rules feature...

I know there are many things going on rn but switching to cloudflare dns should be the first thing to do, if you guys decide to do so.

I mean, people could simply implement a redirect on their own website, with a meta tag, or if they use an express server then with res.redirect().

ya but if that's not an issue, why is @is-a-dev switching to cloudflare ?

  • And provider like replit has its own reserved path which is unremovable and that's when page rules come in

@leecheeyong, If I understand correctly, you want to be able to write page rules for your is-a.dev links in which case,
have you tried having your is-a.dev record point to cloudflare as a custom domain?

I'm not sure what do you mean by "record point to cloudflare" since i'm not using cloudflare pages or anything for my project and i wasn't able to add subdomain or anything to cloudflare i believe.

I did some digging around and I think this is one of the ways to do what I was suggesting but unfortunately, it seems to only be available for Business or Enterprise plans.

yea that's the point, if i ever want to pay for that, i would rather just buy a domain name and use cloudflare free dns. I'm looking for a free service that provides something like this ( page rules ) for is-a-dev domain.
