jackrabbit linux package (deb, rpm) #7
Comments
we should probably rather use jackrabbit inside tomcat on production environments. |
We (Argeo.org) have RPMs tested on CentOS 6 which provide:
This is based on OSGi and there are optional goodies such as a JCR explorer (internal and remote) based on Eclipse RAP (all open source). The stable branch (Argeo Commons v1.2) is based on Jackrabbit 2.2 but I understood that Jackalope requires at least Jackrabbit 2.4. We are currently working on upgrading to Jackrabbit 2.6 in our development branch (v2.1). |
that would be very cool indeed! jackalope needs at least 2.4, but works fine with 2.6. so that would be great to have. |
Ok, I will let you know as soon as we have RPMs containing Jackrabbit v2.6. What is your goal? |
with jackalope-jackrabbit, people need to run a jackrabbit instance in production, to access it with the davex remoting. so it would be useful for production setups. some of course use debian based systems, but others do rpm based systems. and maybe alien can help even for debian, or we can at least take it as a guideline for building .deb. |
In the long run we plan to support Debian as well. Currently we have only the resources to support RHEL/CentOS, which is very stable. We are excited about Jackalope because we would like to better integrate our Java framework with PHP platforms. This is actually one of our main drivers for updating Jackrabbit. |
@mbaudier do you provide .rpm / .deb packages for jackrabbit (in tomcat?) now? |
Hello, sorry we are still stuck with Jackrabbit 2.4. As soon as me upgraded, I'll let you know. |
will be happy to hear about things, yes. we usually run jackrabbit in tomcat nowadays, as per https://github.com/jackalope/jackalope/wiki/Running-jackrabbit-in-tomcat-with-mysql, seems the most stable setup. not sure if there can be a .deb/.rpm that would help with this. |
When we will have updated our Java OSGi distribution (https://repo.argeo.org/ui/public) we will have a recent Jackrabbit also packaged as RPM, running by default in an embedded but full-fledged Tomcat. The good thing with RPM/DEB is to streamline the industrialization of deployment/tests/update. So, this increases adoption by devops. We will have this "soon" (aka. "when it will be ready"...) I'll let you know! |
excellent, thanks! |
Hi... first thanks for providing the example(integrating jack rabbit with MySQL). now the issue is , i had integrated that jackrabbit with oracle.. now i want reset my all jackrabbit tables.. can u tell me that , how i can reset all jack rabbit tables. .. |

NOTE the recommended way to install jackrabbit is as a
.war
inside a web container like tomcat. See https://github.com/jackalope/jackalope/wiki/Running-jackrabbit-in-tomcat-with-mysql for a tutorial.use https://github.com/sixty-nine/Jackrabbit-startup-script
plus the scripts liip opsy team did to monitor and restart
maybe use this to generate packages for various distributions:
