Requirements

Power Armor to the People has no hard requirements, and will work with only the base game. However, some features require other mods:

  • Mod Configuration Menu allows you to configure many aspects of Power Armor to the People in-game
  • F4SE is required for power armored enemies to be able to wear legendary power armor, and for the legendary effects that change jet pack AP drain and thrust

Since the main goal of Power Armor to the People is to incorporate other power armor mods into the world, it is highly recommended that you download all of the supported power armor sets that appeal to you to get the full experience.

It is also recommended that you check the Compatibility Reference to check if any mods that don't have a patch within Power Armor to the People may conflict.

Installation Steps

  1. If you are installing mid-playthrough, it is recommended that you back up your saved game before adding new mods
  2. Install the power armor sets and other recommended mods that you want to use
  3. Use your preferred FOMOD-compatible mod manager, such as Vortex, to install Power Armor to the People
  4. The installer will automatically detect most of your mods, but double-check the Creation Club ones since they don't always work
  5. Make sure your plugins are properly sorted so that all of the patches are lower than their masters - see Load Order below for more details
  6. If you want to require perks to repair power armor, install Power Armor Repair Takes Skill (PARTS) by following the instructions on the mod page

For a reference of what plugins can be installed, what they do, and when the installer will select them, see Plugin Details. Note that this list is quite long and it is not necessary to understand all of it, but it is a useful reference if you are trying to figure out what a plugin in your load order does.

Load Order

In general, these plugins should all be as close to the bottom of your load order as possible. Patches have been included to aid in compatibility, but you must make sure all patches are lower in your load order than their masters (e.g. Power Armor to the People - Nuka-World.esp should be lower in your load order than Power Armor to the People.esp and dlcnukaworld.esp). If your mod manager supports automatically sorting your plugins, using LOOT for example, that should make sure this happens. Vortex seems to do this automatically, but other mod managers like Mod Organizer 2 may require some attention. Besides that, there are no load order dependencies within Power Armor to the People itself.

If you use Some Assembly Required as well as Raider Overhaul / Raider Power Armor Chop-Shop, make sure Some Assembly Required is higher in the load order so the Raider changes take effect.

Installing Mid-Playthrough

Power Armor to the People is intended to work with a new game, with each set of power armor introduced at a certain level to provide a progression throughout the game, but this is not a requirement. Installing mid-playthrough should be safe, as this is how I have done much of my testing. There are a few things to keep in mind, though:

  • Some NPCs that have already been loaded by the game may not be wearing any clothes after an upgrade, some of which you may not see for some time
    • You can go into an interior cell and either wait for a long time (more than a week), or you can also try these console commands to do it faster:
      • passtime 720 - Makes 30 days of game time elapse
      • pcb - Purges cell buffers, getting rid of any loaded cells that were kept around
  • Elder Maxson's power armor will likely be whatever it was when you started your game, unaffected by any changes
  • You may have already gotten a power armor set that wouldn't normally be available until a later level

It is recommended that you back up your saved game before adding new mods.
