SMSBackup+ has not been backing up but one or two (seemingly random) outgoing messages, grabs all incoming with no worries. Just for kicks I tried another app "SMS to Text" and it has the same problem - it can't "see" the outgoing SMS texts from the stock samsung messageing app. As it's across apps, is there a setting somewhere I'm missing?

Many smartphones running Android OS don't have an assistant to help backup and restore contents like contacts, call logs, SMS, music, movies, photos and even applications. In fact, it is very important for all Android users backing up their phone contents to computer. That way, they can keep and restore all Android data from computer whenever the original one get deleted or lost during the process of formatting SD card, resetting to factory data, rooting phone, etc.

So, how can we backup and restore Android data to computer? Here provides you a useful solution --- Android data recovery to backup contacts, retrieve deleted text from Android phone, calendar, Call logs, playlists info, apps, recover deleted photos from samsung galaxy, music and videos from Android device with very short time.

Back Up Data

Step 1 Download and Install Android data recovery
Click the buttons below to download and install the software on PC or Mac.

Step 2 Run the program and select backup mode
Install and run the Android app backup tool on your computer. You'll be asked to select a mode. Choose "Back Up your Phone".

Step 3 Backup Android files to computer
Connect your Android device to computer. And you can see that all your Android data (Music, Videos, Photos, Contacts, SMS and Apps) can be detected by the Android data recovery app and listed in the middle. You can backup these data one-by-one or all at one time by checking the box and click "Start Copy".

Step 4 Restore Android data from your Android
Once you have backup your Android device, you can restore them in the future. What you need to do is select "Restore from Backups" in the homepage and click "Start Copy" to get them back.

Same issue on Samsung S7 (Samsung-SM-G930A), Android 6.0.1, AT&T (latest software update)
Android security patch level: July 1, 2016

Pre-existing Gmail backups from earlier Galaxy S5, Android 5.1, AT&T worked fine (full bi-directional SMS thread visible)

I've been having the same issue on Galaxy S7 Edge. Same AT&T and Android etc versions as @5GmeetsWebRTC. Even if I disconnect my Google account, reconnect, and say Backup all, it still doesn't catch the outgoing messages.

I'm curious if this is being looked into...?

So i have a S6 that went from 5.x to 6.x and this program still works.

Just got an S7 with 6.01 and sent sms does not back up, not even thru Exchange ActiveSync. However, when i told Google now to send a text...it sync'd.

Sent sms sent FROM THE PHONE do not sync in a program like MightyText either. Which works fine on my S6/6.01

I'm not sure anyone monitors this or supports the app anymore. Too bad.
It was once a good app.

Sorry, it's really difficult for me to fix these vendor specific problems without access to the phone itself. I would need some device logs, maybe somebody could provide them?

hopefully this works:
sms_backup_plus[759628].txt

seems like all the backup types say INCOMING.

fyi the default keybd is Samsung on my S7. I switched to Google and still no luck.

I turned off Adv Messaging and sent a test message from the phone and it sync'd. Sent another and it did NOT sync.

Keeping Adv Messaging off seems to be the key.

I am having issues w/ the new Samsung Galaxy 6 software upgrade w/ my messages being uploaded to my email. Why am I having issues all of a sudden, it worked fine before the software update?

I apologize for not clarifying.....the app is not uploading my outgoing, incoming and MMS messages. It was working fine before. I manually backup and nothing is going to my email. I have a Samsung galaxy 6 phone on the AT&T network, and somewhere in the beginning of February w/ the newest software update I am unable to backup any of my messages. I hope this clarifies my message on 2/14/17. Can someone please help?, I have a lot of messages that I am afraid of losing.

I've got a solution.

Try "legal text collector"

Worked for me and the dev was totally responsive, and helped fix a couple bugs the same day.

I had the same issue, but it wasn't only sms backup+ that was having issues. I have a SG5 on the T-Mobile network. The texts that weren't getting backed up were the one from others on the T-Mobile network. Someone above mentioned Advanced Messaging. I found that if I turn off my Voice over LTE Preferred setting that this and my other program now work correctly. I can only assume that with that feature turned on that it routes it through other channels. I haven't been able to determine any adverse effects so far other than not knowing if the other person is actively typing a message, but I don't care about that anyway. If you do find a way to keep this setting turned on and still log please let us know, but other than that I'm happy for now.

I guess the issue is that for the "advanced messages" there is some kind of flag set. One would assume that if one were able to extract the mmssms.db file then the advanced messages would also be present. I don't know why the Samsung app to transfer the messages can't parse them, but it appears there is no product on the market (aside from the guy 2 comments up that is spamming every single thread like this anywhere on the internet) that can read them.

@jberkel does this sound like a reasonable assumption on my part? And would it be possible to code support for this flag if that's actually how it is working?

Unfortunately to get mmssms.db now you have to be rooted and I do not currently have that option without also losing the texts

The program has worked for me for all of my phones up until now when I try to move from an AT&T S7 Edge to S8+ (I enabled advanced messaging without realizing it would cause such an issue) and I would love to continue to use it.

Any chance that advanced message backups will be added at some point in the future? What could be done to motivate people into looking into and implementing this feature?

I've created #1005 as a feature request to track this.

As I've mentioned there, Google have yet to provide an RCS API for third-party use, however they have been giving indications since the beginning of this year that something will be made available to third-party developers "soon".

In the meantime, there is now an Open Source implementation which might suffice.

Closing this ticket; refer to #1005 for further updates.
