Add fork-join parallelism

This library is for laptop-scale work. (Although, I want to extend it for spark usage.) Laptops have multiple cores. And, the general idea is that there is no intra-item state, so it's a candidate for parallelism. I started writing this code (e.g. their is merge machinery) but never finished it.
