This release was a minor update release to address a few issues reported and to stabilize the platform to work on bug resolution for a larger release of a new version. Major changes indicated below.

  • Updating of the version number, to properly isolate from other releases
  • Updating of the MS Build processes to support automated building for future code quality verification
  • Fixed a script support issue from version 6.1.2 for Azure installations
  • Fixed errors that were reported by the DNN Software EVS platform
  • Resolved errors that were associated with project compilation, including build warnings

The next round of releases will work to curate the issue log, and get a better handle on the total state of the project.

Version 6.3

I'm very pleased to announce our first stable release in a long time. It's been long overdue. The changes contained in this release were very minor and I have been testing for well over a month on the last release.

Changes in this release were aimed at some corrections to how the forum looks on IE 9 as well as some content localization changes. See release notes for complete list of changes included.

Please make sure you backup your site and database files before installing as that may be the only way to recover your website if something goes wrong.

I have tested the PA and installed it on several sites with no issues whatsoever. One site has well over 500k topics and thousands of active participants. So I don't expect anything to go wrong but every case is different.

Version 6.2 Beta 8 (6.2.8) - RC

Minor change to sql providers to include {databaseOwner} and {objectQualifier} as per pull #313

As always, this is still a beta and we expect no issues, however testing on a non-production database or backing up production database is highly recommended. Without a backup you can not return to a previous version if something goes wrong.

I really am hoping this will be the last beta and we will release 6.3 as a stable release. Please keep the feedback coming.

Version 6.2 Beta 7 (6.2.7) - RC

Ok so hopefully this will be the last RC. @artfuld has been really busy trying to knock out all of the little issues we have been having. I will be doing some pretty thorough testing on some live sites over the next week or so. As long as we don't have anything major, i'm probably going to go ahead and release 6.3 as a stable; the first stable we have had in a very long time.

Changes in this release were all from pull #310 and they include:

Added name of person reporting a post
Fix sorting problem after removing a forum
Fix for missing settings for what editor to use
Missing {databaseOwner} and {objectQualifier} in various places
Quick fix for splitting process where split reply took on wrong author

As always, this is a beta release. It is highly recommended that you test this on a non-production site prior to a live site and make backups. Upgrading is irreversible without a backup and nothing we can do can help if you don't backup.

Feedback is much appreciated on any/all changes.

Version 6.2 Beta 6 (6.2.6) - RC

Included changes in this release:

Pull #301 - updates to responsive design
Pull #308 - updated text editor java script to help with Internet Explorer compatibility(thanks Mitch Sellers)
Changes to sql providers to help fix error when using the split feature (thanks @artfuld)
Change to dnn manifest to help prevent need to perform repair install each time to get AF dll file to update properly

So far I have tested all of the changes. I have only found one problem and will continue to investigate. I tested the split feature after applying the fix. I am able to split. However it appears that the reply author is getting lost when splitting. I split a reply from an existing post to a new topic. The author shows up as me instead of the original author. This needs nailed down.

I would really like to get some good feedback on this release. I am hoping to call this a stable as soon as I hear back from everyone. I will be doing some testing in Internet Explorer over the weekend. And hope to figure out what is going on with the split feature.

Good news on this release. Mitch Sellers (if you don't know him, go google him) from Iowa Computer Gurus is throwing into this project now. We are still working out the details, but I can tell you that everything he touches turns to gold. Mitch has been around the DNN scene for a very long time now and I'm excited to have the help.

Let's all get our feedback in so I can push to call this a stable. I'm fairly happy with how things have been shaping up, but I don't want to call my testing it. I really need other opinions in order to call it stable. So if you have any interest in seeing this move forward, please provide feedback. I don't care if we never call it stable, but its a perception thing.

So get your comments in. I would really appreciate some feedback. Thanks to those who have been helping and providing solutions and comments.

As always, this is a beta. Make backups and test on development environments when at all possible. Not everything always works for every setup. Its impossible to predict how things will react to your specific environment. The "Beta" tag on this release is only there to imply that things haven't been fully tested yet. I have tested on several sites to ensure the release and changes to manifest were compiled properly and work. It doesn't mean that something you have done in the past doesn't cause issues.

Enjoy!

Version 6.2 Beta 5 (6.2.5) - RC

Pre-release

One minor change was made in this release but a big one. Previously on mobile views where a list of topics was shown, like topicsview, unread, active, when in tablet or mobile view, the last post column wasn't showing. So you could see a list of posts in a timeline like view, but without seeing the last post made on the topic this view wasn't very helpful and we have corrected that.

This change adds back the views/replies or views/topics icon to tablet and mobile view. I've tested it and it looks and works really well.

Also changed issue where image width:100% was causing things like smilies and photos to be extremely large.

Again, this is still a beta. I have done limited testing but there could be small things I missed. I do know by looking over the pull request that the ONLY changes here are template related. No functionality at all. So this would be very similar to 6.2.4 but I can't guarantee that you won't see minor issues or issues that exist in previous versions.

I am tagging this as RC because I expect there to be a stable release in the near future. I have one last thing I want to fix and I will call it a stable release (where you have to install the PA twice to get the dll and version showing in control panel to show properly). I would appreciate everyone to really try to get any major bugs flushed out over the coming few days so we can hit this milestone. Its been way too long since we have had what I would call a stable release.
