Liajian reported a bug_on hit on a ThunderX2 arm64 server with FastLinQ QL41000 ethernet controller: BUG: scheduling while atomic: kworker/0:4/531/0x00000200 [qed_probe:488()]hw prepare failed kernel BUG at mm/vmalloc.c:2355! Internal error: Oops - BUG: 0 [#1] SMP CPU: 0 PID: 531 Comm: kworker/0:4 Tainted: G W 5.4.0-77-generic #86-Ubuntu pstate: 00400009 (nzcv daif +PAN -UAO) Call trace: vunmap+0x4c/0x50 iounmap+0x48/0x58 qed_free_pci+0x60/0x80 [qed] qed_probe+0x35c/0x688 [qed] __qede_probe+0x88/0x5c8 [qede] qede_probe+0x60/0xe0 [qede] local_pci_probe+0x48/0xa0 work_for_cpu_fn+0x24/0x38 process_one_work+0x1d0/0x468 worker_thread+0x238/0x4e0 kthread+0xf0/0x118 ret_from_fork+0x10/0x18 In this case, qed_hw_prepare() returns error due to hw/fw error, but in theory work queue should be in process context instead of interrupt. The root cause might be the unpaired spin_{un}lock_bh() in _qed_mcp_cmd_and_union(), which causes botton half is disabled incorrectly. The reason is that filename is a char * to user space, and the histogram code just blindly dereferenced it, with obvious bad results. I originally tried to use strncpy_from_user/kernel_nofault() but found that there's other places that its dereferenced and not worth the effort. Just do not allow "char *" to act like strings. In some cases skb head could be locked and entire header data is pulled from skb. When skb_zerocopy() called in such cases, following BUG is triggered. This patch fixes it by copying entire skb in such cases. When the dwc2 platform device is removed, it unregisters the generic phy. usb_remove_phy() is called and the dwc2 usb_phy is removed from the "phy_list", but the uevent may still attempt to get the usb_phy from the list, resulting in a page fault bug. Currently we can't access the usb_phy from the "phy_list" after the device is removed. As a fix check to make sure that we can get the usb_phy before moving forward with the uevent. To quote Alexey[1]: I was adding custom tracepoint to the kernel, grabbed full F34 kernel .config, disabled modules and booted whole shebang as VM kernel. Then did perf record -a -e ... It crashed: general protection fault, probably for non-canonical address 0x435f5346592e4243: 0000 [#1] SMP PTI CPU: 1 PID: 842 Comm: cat Not tainted 5.12.6+ #26 Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996), BIOS 1.14.0-1.fc33 04/01/2014 RIP: 0010:t_show+0x22/0xd0 Then reproducer was narrowed to # cat /sys/kernel/tracing/printk_formats Original F34 kernel with modules didn't crash. So I started to disable options and after disabling AFS everything started working again. The root cause is that AFS was placing char arrays content into a section full of _pointers_ to strings with predictable consequences. Non canonical address 435f5346592e4243 is "CB.YFS_" which came from CM_NAME macro. Steps to reproduce: CONFIG_AFS=y CONFIG_TRACING=y # cat /sys/kernel/tracing/printk_formats Fix this by the following means: (1) Add enum->string translation tables in the event header with the AFS and YFS cache/callback manager operations listed by RPC operation ID. (2) Modify the afs_cb_call tracepoint to print the string from the translation table rather than using the string at the afs_call name pointer. (3) Switch translation table depending on the service we're being accessed as (AFS or YFS) in the tracepoint print clause. Will this cause problems to userspace utilities? Note that the symbolic representation of the YFS service ID isn't available to this header, so I've put it in as a number. I'm not sure if this is the best way to do this. (4) Remove the name wrangling (CM_NAME) macro and put the names directly into the afs_call_type structs in cmservice.c. Richard reported sporadic (roughly one in 10 or so) null dereferences and other strange behaviour for a set of automated LTP tests. Things like: BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000008 #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode #PF: error_code(0x0000) - not-present page PGD 0 P4D 0 Oops: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP PTI CPU: 0 PID: 1516 Comm: umount Not tainted 5.10.0-yocto-standard #1 Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (Q35 + ICH9, 2009), BIOS rel-1.13.0-48-gd9c812dda519-prebuilt.qemu.org 04/01/2014 RIP: 0010:kernfs_sop_show_path+0x1b/0x60 ...or these others: RIP: 0010:do_mkdirat+0x6a/0xf0 RIP: 0010:d_alloc_parallel+0x98/0x510 RIP: 0010:do_readlinkat+0x86/0x120 There were other less common instances of some kind of a general scribble but the common theme was mount and cgroup and a dubious dentry triggering the NULL dereference. I was only able to reproduce it under qemu by replicating Richard's setup as closely as possible - I never did get it to happen on bare metal, even while keeping everything else the same. In commit 71d883c ("cgroup_do_mount(): massage calling conventions") we see this as a part of the overall change: -------------- struct cgroup_subsys *ss; - struct dentry *dentry; [...] - dentry = cgroup_do_mount(&cgroup_fs_type, fc->sb_flags, root, - CGROUP_SUPER_MAGIC, ns); [...] - if (percpu_ref_is_dying(&root->cgrp.self.refcnt)) { - struct super_block *sb = dentry->d_sb; - dput(dentry); + ret = cgroup_do_mount(fc, CGROUP_SUPER_MAGIC, ns); + if (!ret && percpu_ref_is_dying(&root->cgrp.self.refcnt)) { + struct super_block *sb = fc->root->d_sb; + dput(fc->root); deactivate_locked_super(sb); msleep(10); return restart_syscall(); } -------------- In changing from the local "*dentry" variable to using fc->root, we now export/leave that dentry pointer in the file context after doing the dput() in the unlikely "is_dying" case. With LTP doing a crazy amount of back to back mount/unmount [testcases/bin/cgroup_regression_5_1.sh] the unlikely becomes slightly likely and then bad things happen. A fix would be to not leave the stale reference in fc->root as follows: -------------- dput(fc->root); + fc->root = NULL; deactivate_locked_super(sb); -------------- ...but then we are just open-coding a duplicate of fc_drop_locked() so we simply use that instead. At btrfs_qgroup_trace_extent_post() we call btrfs_find_all_roots() with a NULL value as the transaction handle argument, which makes that function take the commit_root_sem semaphore, which is necessary when we don't hold a transaction handle or any other mechanism to prevent a transaction commit from wiping out commit roots. However btrfs_qgroup_trace_extent_post() can be called in a context where we are holding a write lock on an extent buffer from a subvolume tree, namely from btrfs_truncate_inode_items(), called either during truncate or unlink operations. In this case we end up with a lock inversion problem because the commit_root_sem is a higher level lock, always supposed to be acquired before locking any extent buffer. Lockdep detects this lock inversion problem since we switched the extent buffer locks from custom locks to semaphores, and when running btrfs/158 from fstests, it reported the following trace: [ 9057.626435] ====================================================== [ 9057.627541] WARNING: possible circular locking dependency detected [ 9057.628334] 5.14.0-rc2-btrfs-next-93 #1 Not tainted [ 9057.628961] ------------------------------------------------------ [ 9057.629867] kworker/u16:4/30781 is trying to acquire lock: [ 9057.630824] ffff8e2590f58760 (btrfs-tree-00){++++}-{3:3}, at: __btrfs_tree_read_lock+0x24/0x110 [btrfs] [ 9057.632542] but task is already holding lock: [ 9057.633551] ffff8e25582d4b70 (&fs_info->commit_root_sem){++++}-{3:3}, at: iterate_extent_inodes+0x10b/0x280 [btrfs] [ 9057.635255] which lock already depends on the new lock. We can't just pass a non-NULL transaction handle to btrfs_find_all_roots() from btrfs_qgroup_trace_extent_post(), because that would make backref lookup not use commit roots and acquire read locks on extent buffers, and therefore could deadlock when btrfs_qgroup_trace_extent_post() is called from the btrfs_truncate_inode_items() code path which has acquired a write lock on an extent buffer of the subvolume btree. Commit b10d6bc ("arch, drivers: replace for_each_membock() with for_each_mem_range()") didn't take into account that when there is movable_node parameter in the kernel command line, for_each_mem_range() would skip ranges marked with MEMBLOCK_HOTPLUG. The page table setup code in POWER uses for_each_mem_range() to create the linear mapping of the physical memory and since the regions marked as MEMORY_HOTPLUG are skipped, they never make it to the linear map. A later access to the memory in those ranges will fail: BUG: Unable to handle kernel data access on write at 0xc000000400000000 Faulting instruction address: 0xc00000000008a3c0 Oops: Kernel access of bad area, sig: 11 [#1] LE PAGE_SIZE=64K MMU=Radix SMP NR_CPUS=2048 NUMA pSeries Modules linked in: CPU: 0 PID: 53 Comm: kworker/u2:0 Not tainted 5.13.0 #7 NIP: c00000000008a3c0 LR: c0000000003c1ed8 CTR: 0000000000000040 REGS: c000000008a57770 TRAP: 0300 Not tainted (5.13.0) MSR: 8000000002009033 <SF,VEC,EE,ME,IR,DR,RI,LE> CR: 84222202 XER: 20040000 CFAR: c0000000003c1ed4 DAR: c000000400000000 DSISR: 42000000 IRQMASK: 0 GPR00: c0000000003c1ed8 c000000008a57a10 c0000000019da700 c000000400000000 GPR04: 0000000000000280 0000000000000180 0000000000000400 0000000000000200 GPR08: 0000000000000100 0000000000000080 0000000000000040 0000000000000300 GPR12: 0000000000000380 c000000001bc0000 c0000000001660c8 c000000006337e00 GPR16: 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 GPR20: 0000000040000000 0000000020000000 c000000001a81990 c000000008c30000 GPR24: c000000008c20000 c000000001a81998 000fffffffff0000 c000000001a819a0 GPR28: c000000001a81908 c00c000001000000 c000000008c40000 c000000008a64680 NIP clear_user_page+0x50/0x80 LR __handle_mm_fault+0xc88/0x1910 Call Trace: __handle_mm_fault+0xc44/0x1910 (unreliable) handle_mm_fault+0x130/0x2a0 __get_user_pages+0x248/0x610 __get_user_pages_remote+0x12c/0x3e0 get_arg_page+0x54/0xf0 copy_string_kernel+0x11c/0x210 kernel_execve+0x16c/0x220 call_usermodehelper_exec_async+0x1b0/0x2f0 ret_from_kernel_thread+0x5c/0x70 Instruction dump: 79280fa4 79271764 79261f24 794ae8e2 7ca94214 7d683a14 7c893a14 7d893050 7d4903a6 60000000 60000000 60000000 <7c001fec> 7c091fec 7c081fec 7c051fec ---[ end trace 490b8c67e6075e09 ]--- Making for_each_mem_range() include MEMBLOCK_HOTPLUG regions in the traversal fixes this issue. Fix the problem by bailing out (with the false return value) of inode_prepare_sbs_switch() if a dax inode is passed. Function raw_enable_filters() will add sock and can_filter to net->can.rx_alldev_list. Then the sock is closed. Followed by, we sock_sendmsg() to a new vcan device use the same can_filter. Protocol stack match the old receiver whose sock has been released on net->can.rx_alldev_list in can_rcv_filter(). Function raw_rcv() uses the freed sock. UAF BUG is triggered. We can find that the key issue is that net_device has not been protected in raw_setsockopt(). Use rtnl_lock to protect net_device in raw_setsockopt(). Commit a0384ec ("clk: qcom: smd-rpm: De-duplicate identical entries") introduces the following regression on MSM8936/MSM8939, as RPM_SMD_PCNOC_A_CLK gets pointed to pcnoc_clk by mistake. Fix it by correcting the clock to pcnoc_a_clk. iocg_wake_fn() open-codes wait_queue_entry removal and wakeup because it wants the wq_entry to be always removed whether it ended up waking the task or not. finish_wait() tests whether wq_entry needs removal without grabbing the wait_queue lock and expects the waker to use list_del_init_careful() after all waking operations are complete, which iocg_wake_fn() didn't do. The operation order was wrong and the regular list_del_init() was used. The result is that if a waiter wakes up racing the waker, it can free pop the wq_entry off stack before the waker is still looking at it, which can lead to a backtrace like the following. GSO expects inner transport header offset to be valid when skb->encapsulation flag is set. GSO uses this value to calculate the length of an individual segment of a GSO packet in skb_gso_transport_seglen(). However, tcp/udp gro_complete callbacks don't update the skb->inner_transport_header when processing an encapsulated TCP/UDP segment. As a result a GRO skb has ->inner_transport_header set to a value carried over from earlier skb processing. This can have mild to tragic consequences. From miscalculating the GSO segment length to triggering a page fault [1], when trying to read TCP/UDP header at an address past the skb->data page. The latter scenario leads to an oops report like so: BUG: unable to handle page fault for address: ffff9fa7ec00d008 #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode #PF: error_code(0x0000) - not-present page PGD 123f201067 P4D 123f201067 PUD 123f209067 PMD 0 Oops: 0000 [#1] SMP NOPTI CPU: 44 PID: 0 Comm: swapper/44 Not tainted 5.4.53-cloudflare-2020.7.21 #1 Hardware name: HYVE EDGE-METAL-GEN10/HS-1811DLite1, BIOS V2.15 02/21/2020 RIP: 0010:skb_gso_transport_seglen+0x44/0xa0 Code: c0 41 83 e0 11 f6 87 81 00 00 00 20 74 30 0f b7 87 aa 00 00 00 0f [...] RSP: 0018:ffffad8640bacbb8 EFLAGS: 00010202 RAX: 000000000000feda RBX: ffff9fcc8d31bc00 RCX: ffff9fa7ec00cffc RDX: ffff9fa7ebffdec0 RSI: 000000000000feda RDI: 0000000000000122 RBP: 00000000000005c4 R08: 0000000000000001 R09: 0000000000000000 R10: ffff9fe588ae3800 R11: ffff9fe011fc92f0 R12: ffff9fcc8d31bc00 R13: ffff9fe0119d4300 R14: 00000000000005c4 R15: ffff9fba57d70900 FS: 0000000000000000(0000) GS:ffff9fe68df00000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 CR2: ffff9fa7ec00d008 CR3: 0000003e99b1c000 CR4: 0000000000340ee0 Call Trace: <IRQ> skb_gso_validate_network_len+0x11/0x70 __ip_finish_output+0x109/0x1c0 ip_sublist_rcv_finish+0x57/0x70 ip_sublist_rcv+0x2aa/0x2d0 ? ip_rcv_finish_core.constprop.0+0x390/0x390 ip_list_rcv+0x12b/0x14f __netif_receive_skb_list_core+0x2a9/0x2d0 netif_receive_skb_list_internal+0x1b5/0x2e0 napi_complete_done+0x93/0x140 veth_poll+0xc0/0x19f [veth] ? mlx5e_napi_poll+0x221/0x610 [mlx5_core] net_rx_action+0x1f8/0x790 __do_softirq+0xe1/0x2bf irq_exit+0x8e/0xc0 do_IRQ+0x58/0xe0 common_interrupt+0xf/0xf </IRQ> The bug can be observed in a simple setup where we send IP/GRE/IP/TCP packets into a netns over a veth pair. Inside the netns, packets are forwarded to dummy device: trafgen -> [veth A]--[veth B] -forward-> [dummy] For veth B to GRO aggregate packets on receive, it needs to have an XDP program attached (for example, a trivial XDP_PASS). Additionally, for UDP, we need to enable GSO_UDP_L4 feature on the device: ip netns exec A ethtool -K AB rx-udp-gro-forwarding on The last component is an artificial delay to increase the chances of GRO batching happening: ip netns exec A tc qdisc add dev AB root \ netem delay 200us slot 5ms 10ms packets 2 bytes 64k With such a setup in place, the bug can be observed by tracing the skb outer and inner offsets when GSO skb is transmitted from the dummy device: tcp: FUNC DEV SKB_LEN NH TH ENC INH ITH GSO_SIZE GSO_TYPE ip_finish_output dumB 2830 270 290 1 294 254 1383 (tcpv4,gre,) ^^^ udp: FUNC DEV SKB_LEN NH TH ENC INH ITH GSO_SIZE GSO_TYPE ip_finish_output dumB 2818 270 290 1 294 254 1383 (gre,udp_l4,) ^^^ Fix it by updating the inner transport header offset in tcp/udp gro_complete callbacks, similar to how {inet,ipv6}_gro_complete callbacks update the inner network header offset, when skb->encapsulation flag is set. sun8i_ce_cipher_unprepare should be called before crypto_finalize_skcipher_request, because client callbacks may immediately free memory, that isn't needed anymore. But it will be used by unprepare after free. Before removing prepare/unprepare callbacks it was handled by crypto engine in crypto_finalize_request. Usually that results in a pointer dereference problem during a in crypto selftest. …git/netfilter/nf Pablo Neira Ayuso says: ==================== Netfilter fixes for net Patch #1 restores NFPROTO_INET with nft_compat, from Ignat Korchagin. Patch #2 fixes an issue with bridge netfilter and broadcast/multicast packets. There is a day 0 bug in br_netfilter when used with connection tracking. Conntrack assumes that an nf_conn structure that is not yet added to hash table ("unconfirmed"), is only visible by the current cpu that is processing the sk_buff. For bridge this isn't true, sk_buff can get cloned in between, and clones can be processed in parallel on different cpu. This patch disables NAT and conntrack helpers for multicast packets. Patch #3 adds a selftest to cover for the br_netfilter bug. netfilter pull request 24-02-29 * tag 'nf-24-02-29' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netfilter/nf: selftests: netfilter: add bridge conntrack + multicast test case netfilter: bridge: confirm multicast packets before passing them up the stack netfilter: nf_tables: allow NFPROTO_INET in nft_(match/target)_validate() ==================== Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20240229000135.8780-1-pablo@netfilter.org Signed-off-by: Paolo Abeni <pabeni@redhat.com>

For fiemap we recently stopped locking the target extent range for the whole duration of the fiemap call, in order to avoid a deadlock in a scenario where the fiemap buffer happens to be a memory mapped range of the same file. This use case is very unlikely to be useful in practice but it may be triggered by fuzz testing (syzbot, etc). However by not locking the target extent range for the whole duration of the fiemap call we can race with an ordered extent. This happens like this: 1) The fiemap task finishes processing a file extent item that covers the file range [512K, 1M[, and that file extent item is the last item in the leaf currently being processed; 2) And ordered extent for the file range [768K, 2M[, in COW mode, completes (btrfs_finish_one_ordered()) and the file extent item covering the range [512K, 1M[ is trimmed to cover the range [512K, 768K[ and then a new file extent item for the range [768K, 2M[ is inserted in the inode's subvolume tree; 3) The fiemap task calls fiemap_next_leaf_item(), which then calls btrfs_next_leaf() to find the next leaf / item. This finds that the the next key following the one we previously processed (its type is BTRFS_EXTENT_DATA_KEY and its offset is 512K), is the key corresponding to the new file extent item inserted by the ordered extent, which has a type of BTRFS_EXTENT_DATA_KEY and an offset of 768K; 4) Later the fiemap code ends up at emit_fiemap_extent() and triggers the warning: if (cache->offset + cache->len > offset) { WARN_ON(1); return -EINVAL; } Since we get 1M > 768K, because the previously emitted entry for the old extent covering the file range [512K, 1M[ ends at an offset that is greater than the new extent's start offset (768K). This makes fiemap fail with -EINVAL besides triggering the warning that produces a stack trace like the following: [1621.677651] ------------[ cut here ]------------ [1621.677656] WARNING: CPU: 1 PID: 204366 at fs/btrfs/extent_io.c:2492 emit_fiemap_extent+0x84/0x90 [btrfs] [1621.677899] Modules linked in: btrfs blake2b_generic (...) In that case if the ordered extents complete before we find the next key, we may end up finding an extent item with an offset smaller than (or equals to) the offset in cache->offset. So fix this by changing emit_fiemap_extent() to address these three scenarios like this: 1) For the first case, steps listed above, adjust the length of the previously cached extent so that it does not overlap with the current extent, emit the previous one and cache the current file extent item; 2) For the second case where he had a hole or prealloc extent with multiple delalloc ranges inside the hole or prealloc extent's range, and the current file extent item has an offset that matches the offset in the fiemap cache, just discard what we have in the fiemap cache and assign the current file extent item to the cache, since it's more up to date; 3) For the third case where he had a hole or prealloc extent with multiple delalloc ranges inside the hole or prealloc extent's range and the offset of the file extent item we just found is smaller than what we have in the cache, just skip the current file extent item if its range end at or behind the cached extent's end, because we may have emitted (to the fiemap user space buffer) delalloc ranges that overlap with the current file extent item's range. If the file extent item's range goes beyond the end offset of the cached extent, just emit the cached extent and cache a subrange of the file extent item, that goes from the end offset of the cached extent to the end offset of the file extent item. Dealing with those cases in those ways makes everything consistent by reflecting the current state of file extent items in the btree and without emitting extents that have overlapping ranges (which would be confusing and violating expectations). This issue could be triggered often with test case generic/561, and was also hit and reported by Wang Yugui. The refactoring done in commit 5c57b1c ("comedi: comedi_8255: Rework subdevice initialization functions") to the initialization of the io field of struct subdev_8255_private broke all cards using the drivers/comedi/drivers/comedi_8255.c module. Prior to 5c57b1c, __subdev_8255_init() initialized the io field in the newly allocated struct subdev_8255_private to the non-NULL callback given to the function, otherwise it used a flag parameter to select between subdev_8255_mmio and subdev_8255_io. The refactoring removed that logic and the flag, as subdev_8255_mm_init() and subdev_8255_io_init() now explicitly pass subdev_8255_mmio and subdev_8255_io respectively to __subdev_8255_init(), only __subdev_8255_init() never sets spriv->io to the supplied callback. That spriv->io is NULL leads to a later BUG: BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000000 PGD 0 P4D 0 Oops: 0010 [#1] SMP PTI CPU: 1 PID: 1210 Comm: systemd-udevd Not tainted 6.7.3-x86_64 #1 Hardware name: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX RIP: 0010:0x0 Code: Unable to access opcode bytes at 0xffffffffffffffd6. …git/netfilter/nf Pablo Neira Ayuso says: ==================== Netfilter fixes for net The following patchset contains fixes for net: Patch #1 disallows anonymous sets with timeout, except for dynamic sets. Anonymous sets with timeouts using the pipapo set backend makes no sense from userspace perspective. Patch #2 rejects constant sets with timeout which has no practical usecase. This kind of set, once bound, contains elements that expire but no new elements can be added. Patch #3 restores custom conntrack expectations with NFPROTO_INET, from Florian Westphal. Patch #4 marks rhashtable anonymous set with timeout as dead from the commit path to avoid that async GC collects these elements. Rules that refers to the anonymous set get released with no mutex held from the commit path. Patch #5 fixes a UBSAN shift overflow in H.323 conntrack helper, from Lena Wang. netfilter pull request 24-03-07 * tag 'nf-24-03-07' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netfilter/nf: netfilter: nf_conntrack_h323: Add protection for bmp length out of range netfilter: nf_tables: mark set as dead when unbinding anonymous set with timeout netfilter: nft_ct: fix l3num expectations with inet pseudo family netfilter: nf_tables: reject constant set with timeout netfilter: nf_tables: disallow anonymous set with timeout flag ==================== Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20240307021545.149386-1-pablo@netfilter.org Signed-off-by: Paolo Abeni <pabeni@redhat.com>

The bug can be triggered by sending an amdgpu_cs_wait_ioctl to the AMDGPU DRM driver on any ASICs with valid context. The bug was reported by Joonkyo Jung <joonkyoj@yonsei.ac.kr>. For example the following code: static void Syzkaller2(int fd) { union drm_amdgpu_ctx arg1; union drm_amdgpu_wait_cs arg2; arg1.in.op = AMDGPU_CTX_OP_ALLOC_CTX; ret = drmIoctl(fd, 0x140106442 /* amdgpu_ctx_ioctl */, &arg1); arg2.in.handle = 0x0; arg2.in.timeout = 0x2000000000000; arg2.in.ip_type = AMD_IP_VPE /* 0x9 */; arg2->in.ip_instance = 0x0; arg2.in.ring = 0x0; arg2.in.ctx_id = arg1.out.alloc.ctx_id; drmIoctl(fd, 0xc0206449 /* AMDGPU_WAIT_CS * /, &arg2); } The ioctl AMDGPU_WAIT_CS without previously submitted job could be assumed that the error should be returned, but the following commit 1decbf6 modified the logic and allowed to have sched_rq equal to NULL. As a result when there is no job the ioctl AMDGPU_WAIT_CS returns success. The change fixes null-ptr-deref in init entity and the stack below demonstrates the error condition: [ +0.000007] BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000028 [ +0.007086] #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode [ +0.005234] #PF: error_code(0x0000) - not-present page [ +0.005232] PGD 0 P4D 0 [ +0.002501] Oops: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP KASAN NOPTI [ +0.005034] CPU: 10 PID: 9229 Comm: amd_basic Tainted: G B W L 6.7.0+ #4 [ +0.007797] Hardware name: ASUS System Product Name/ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI), BIOS 1401 12/03/2020 [ +0.009798] RIP: 0010:drm_sched_entity_init+0x2d3/0x420 [gpu_sched] [ +0.006426] Code: 80 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 e8 1a 81 82 e0 49 89 9c 24 c0 00 00 00 4c 89 ef e8 4a 80 82 e0 49 8b 5d 00 48 8d 7b 28 e8 3d 80 82 e0 <48> 83 7b 28 00 0f 84 28 01 00 00 4d 8d ac 24 98 00 00 00 49 8d 5c [ +0.019094] RSP: 0018:ffffc90014c1fa40 EFLAGS: 00010282 [ +0.005237] RAX: 0000000000000001 RBX: 0000000000000000 RCX: ffffffff8113f3fa [ +0.007326] RDX: fffffbfff0a7889d RSI: 0000000000000008 RDI: ffffffff853c44e0 [ +0.007264] RBP: ffffc90014c1fa80 R08: 0000000000000001 R09: fffffbfff0a7889c [ +0.007266] R10: ffffffff853c44e7 R11: 0000000000000001 R12: ffff8881a719b010 [ +0.007263] R13: ffff88810d412748 R14: 0000000000000002 R15: 0000000000000000 [ +0.007264] FS: 00007ffff7045540(0000) GS:ffff8883cc900000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 [ +0.008236] CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 [ +0.005851] CR2: 0000000000000028 CR3: 000000011912e000 CR4: 0000000000350ef0 [ +0.007175] Call Trace: [ +0.002561] <TASK> [ +0.002141] ? The verifier allows using the addr_space_cast instruction in a program that doesn't have an associated arena. This was caught in the form an invalid memory access in do_misc_fixups() when while converting addr_space_cast to a normal 32-bit mov, env->prog->aux->arena was dereferenced to check for BPF_F_NO_USER_CONV flag. Reject programs that include the addr_space_cast instruction but don't have an associated arena. root@rv-tester:~# ./reproducer Unable to handle kernel access to user memory without uaccess routines at virtual address 0000000000000030 Oops [#1] [<ffffffff8017eeaa>] do_misc_fixups+0x43c/0x1168 [<ffffffff801936d6>] bpf_check+0xda8/0x22b6 [<ffffffff80174b32>] bpf_prog_load+0x486/0x8dc [<ffffffff80176566>] __sys_bpf+0xbd8/0x214e [<ffffffff80177d14>] __riscv_sys_bpf+0x22/0x2a [<ffffffff80d2493a>] do_trap_ecall_u+0x102/0x17c [<ffffffff80d3048c>] ret_from_exception+0x0/0x64 Fixes: 6082b6c ("bpf: Recognize addr_space_cast instruction in the verifier.") The ice driver would previously panic after suspend. This is caused from the driver *only* calling the ice_vsi_free_q_vectors() function by itself, when it is suspending. Since commit b3e7b3a ("ice: prevent NULL pointer deref during reload") the driver has zeroed out num_q_vectors, and only restored it in ice_vsi_cfg_def(). This further causes the ice_rebuild() function to allocate a zero length buffer, after which num_q_vectors is updated, and then the new value of num_q_vectors is used to index into the zero length buffer, which corrupts memory. The fix entails making sure all the code referencing num_q_vectors only does so after it has been reset via ice_vsi_cfg_def(). I didn't perform a full bisect, but I was able to test against 6.1.77 kernel and that ice driver works fine for suspend/resume with no panic, so sometime since then, this problem was introduced. Also clean up an un-needed init of a local variable in the function being modified. The session resources are used by FW and driver when session is offloaded, once session is uploaded these resources are not used. The lock is not required as these fields won't be used any longer. The offload and upload calls are sequential, hence lock is not required. The sequence of events is as follows: btrfs_dev_replace_start btrfs_scrub_dev btrfs_dev_replace_finishing btrfs_dev_replace_update_device_in_mapping_tree <-- devices replaced btrfs_rm_dev_replace_free_srcdev btrfs_free_device <-- device freed cleaner_kthread btrfs_delete_unused_bgs btrfs_zone_finish do_zone_finish <-- refers the freed device The reason for this is that we're using a cached pointer to the chunk_map from the block group, but on device replace this cached pointer can contain stale device entries. The staleness comes from the fact, that btrfs_block_group::physical_map is not a pointer to a btrfs_chunk_map but a memory copy of it. Also take the fs_info::dev_replace::rwsem to prevent btrfs_dev_replace_update_device_in_mapping_tree() from changing the device underneath us again. Note: btrfs_dev_replace_update_device_in_mapping_tree() is holding fs_info::mapping_tree_lock, but as this is a spinning read/write lock we cannot take it as the call to blkdev_zone_mgmt() requires a memory allocation which may not sleep. But btrfs_dev_replace_update_device_in_mapping_tree() is always called with the fs_info::dev_replace::rwsem held in write mode. Many thanks to Shinichiro for analyzing the bug. When cachestat on shmem races with swapping and invalidation, there are two possible bugs: 1) A swapin error can have resulted in a poisoned swap entry in the shmem inode's xarray. Calling get_shadow_from_swap_cache() on it will result in an out-of-bounds access to swapper_spaces[]. Validate the entry with non_swap_entry() before going further. 2) When we find a valid swap entry in the shmem's inode, the shadow entry in the swapcache might not exist yet: swap IO is still in progress and we're before __remove_mapping; swapin, invalidation, or swapoff have removed the shadow from swapcache after we saw the shmem swap entry. This will send a NULL to workingset_test_recent(). The latter purely operates on pointer bits, so it won't crash - node 0, memcg ID 0, eviction timestamp 0, etc. are all valid inputs - but it's a bogus test. In theory that could result in a false "recently evicted" count. Such a false positive wouldn't be the end of the world. But for code clarity and (future) robustness, be explicit about this case. Bail on get_shadow_from_swap_cache() returning NULL. The driver creates /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/mob_ttm even when the corresponding ttm_resource_manager is not allocated. This leads to a crash when trying to read from this file. Add a check to create mob_ttm, system_mob_ttm, and gmr_ttm debug file only when the corresponding ttm_resource_manager is allocated. crash> bt PID: 3133409 TASK: ffff8fe4834a5000 CPU: 3 COMMAND: "grep" #0 [ffffb954506b3b20] machine_kexec at ffffffffb2a6bec3 #1 [ffffb954506b3b78] __crash_kexec at ffffffffb2bb598a #2 [ffffb954506b3c38] crash_kexec at ffffffffb2bb68c1 #3 [ffffb954506b3c50] oops_end at ffffffffb2a2a9b1 #4 [ffffb954506b3c70] no_context at ffffffffb2a7e913 #5 [ffffb954506b3cc8] __bad_area_nosemaphore at ffffffffb2a7ec8c #6 [ffffb954506b3d10] do_page_fault at ffffffffb2a7f887 #7 [ffffb954506b3d40] page_fault at ffffffffb360116e [exception RIP: ttm_resource_manager_debug+0x11] RIP: ffffffffc04afd11 RSP: ffffb954506b3df0 RFLAGS: 00010246 RAX: ffff8fe41a6d1200 RBX: 0000000000000000 RCX: 0000000000000940 RDX: 0000000000000000 RSI: ffffffffc04b4338 RDI: 0000000000000000 RBP: ffffb954506b3e08 R8: ffff8fee3ffad000 R9: 0000000000000000 R10: ffff8fe41a76a000 R11: 0000000000000001 R12: 00000000ffffffff R13: 0000000000000001 R14: ffff8fe5bb6f3900 R15: ffff8fe41a6d1200 ORIG_RAX: ffffffffffffffff CS: 0010 SS: 0018 #8 [ffffb954506b3e00] ttm_resource_manager_show at ffffffffc04afde7 [ttm] #9 [ffffb954506b3e30] seq_read at ffffffffb2d8f9f3 RIP: 00007f4c4eda8985 RSP: 00007ffdbba9e9f8 RFLAGS: 00000246 RAX: ffffffffffffffda RBX: 000000000037e000 RCX: 00007f4c4eda8985 RDX: 000000000037e000 RSI: 00007f4c41573000 RDI: 0000000000000003 RBP: 000000000037e000 R8: 0000000000000000 R9: 000000000037fe30 R10: 0000000000000000 R11: 0000000000000246 R12: 00007f4c41573000 R13: 0000000000000003 R14: 00007f4c41572010 R15: 0000000000000003 ORIG_RAX: 0000000000000000 CS: 0033 SS: 002b Signed-off-by: Jocelyn Falempe <jfalempe@redhat.com> Fixes: af4a25b ("drm/vmwgfx: Add debugfs entries for various ttm resource managers") Cc: <stable@vger.kernel.org> Reviewed-by: Zack Rusin <zack.rusin@broadcom.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20240312093551.196609-1-jfalempe@redhat.com

…git/netfilter/nf Pablo Neira Ayuso says: ==================== Netfilter fixes for net The following patchset contains Netfilter fixes for net: Patch #1 reject destroy chain command to delete device hooks in netdev family, hence, only delchain commands are allowed. Patch #2 reject table flag update interference with netdev basechain hook updates, this can leave hooks in inconsistent registration/unregistration state. Patch #3 do not unregister netdev basechain hooks if table is dormant. Otherwise, splat with double unregistration is possible. Patch #4 fixes Kconfig to allow to restore IP_NF_ARPTABLES, from Kuniyuki Iwashima. There are a more fixes still in progress on my side that need more work. * tag 'nf-24-03-28' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netfilter/nf: netfilter: arptables: Select NETFILTER_FAMILY_ARP when building arp_tables.c netfilter: nf_tables: skip netdev hook unregistration if table is dormant netfilter: nf_tables: reject table flag and netdev basechain updates netfilter: nf_tables: reject destroy command to remove basechain hooks ==================== Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20240328031855.2063-1-pablo@netfilter.org Signed-off-by: Paolo Abeni <pabeni@redhat.com>

We could prevent from that race by serializing i915_active_fini() with __active_retire() via ref->tree_lock, but that wouldn't stop the VMA from being used, e.g. from __i915_vma_retire() called at the end of __active_retire(), after that VMA has been already freed by a concurrent i915_vma_destroy() on return from the i915_active_fini(). Then, we should rather fix the issue at the VMA level, not in i915_active. Since __i915_vma_parked() is called from __gt_park() on last put of the GT's wakeref, the issue could be addressed by holding the GT wakeref long enough for __active_retire() to complete before that wakeref is released and the GT parked. I believe the issue was introduced by commit d939397 ("drm/i915: Remove the vma refcount") which moved a call to i915_active_fini() from a dropped i915_vma_release(), called on last put of the removed VMA kref, to i915_vma_parked() processing path called on last put of a GT wakeref. However, its visibility to the object debugging tool was suppressed by a bug in i915_active that was fixed two weeks later with commit e92eb24 ("drm/i915/active: Fix missing debug object activation"). A VMA associated with a request doesn't acquire a GT wakeref by itself. Instead, it depends on a wakeref held directly by the request's active intel_context for a GT associated with its VM, and indirectly on that intel_context's engine wakeref if the engine belongs to the same GT as the VMA's VM. Those wakerefs are released asynchronously to VMA deactivation. Fix the issue by getting a wakeref for the VMA's GT when activating it, and putting that wakeref only after the VMA is deactivated. However, exclude global GTT from that processing path, otherwise the GPU never goes idle. Since __i915_vma_retire() may be called from atomic contexts, use async variant of wakeref put. Also, to avoid circular locking dependency, take care of acquiring the wakeref before VM mutex when both are needed. v7: Add inline comments with justifications for: - using untracked variants of intel_gt_pm_get/put() (Nirmoy), - using async variant of _put(), - not getting the wakeref in case of a global GTT, - always getting the first wakeref outside vm->mutex. v6: Since __i915_vma_active/retire() callbacks are not serialized, storing a wakeref tracking handle inside struct i915_vma is not safe, and there is no other good place for that. Use untracked variants of intel_gt_pm_get/put_async(). v5: Replace "tile" with "GT" across commit description (Rodrigo), - avoid mentioning multi-GT case in commit description (Rodrigo), - explain why we need to take a temporary wakeref unconditionally inside i915_vma_pin_ww() (Rodrigo). v4: Refresh on top of commit 5e4e06e ("drm/i915: Track gt pm wakerefs") (Andi), - for more easy backporting, split out removal of former insufficient workarounds and move them to separate patches (Nirmoy). - clean up commit message and description a bit. v3: Identify root cause more precisely, and a commit to blame, - identify and drop former workarounds, - update commit message and description. v2: Get the wakeref before VM mutex to avoid circular locking dependency, - drop questionable Fixes: tag. Originally, with strict in order execution, we could complete execution only when the queue was empty. Preempt-to-busy allows replacement of an active request that may complete before the preemption is processed by HW. If that happens, the request is retired from the queue, but the queue_priority_hint remains set, preventing direct submission until after the next CS interrupt is processed. This preempt-to-busy race can be triggered by the heartbeat, which will also act as the power-management barrier and upon completion allow us to idle the HW. We may process the completion of the heartbeat, and begin parking the engine before the CS event that restores the queue_priority_hint, causing us to fail the assertion that it is MIN. <3>[ 166.210729] __engine_park:283 GEM_BUG_ON(engine->sched_engine->queue_priority_hint != (-((int)(~0U >> 1)) - 1)) <0>[ 166.210781] Dumping ftrace buffer: <0>[ 166.210795] --------------------------------- ... <0>[ 167.302811] drm_fdin-1097 2..s1. 165741070us : trace_ports: 0000:00:02.0 rcs0: promote { ccid:20 1217:2 prio 0 } <0>[ 167.302861] drm_fdin-1097 2d.s2. 165741072us : execlists_submission_tasklet: 0000:00:02.0 rcs0: preempting last=1217:2, prio=0, hint=2147483646 <0>[ 167.302928] drm_fdin-1097 2d.s2. 165741072us : __i915_request_unsubmit: 0000:00:02.0 rcs0: fence 1217:2, current 0 <0>[ 167.302992] drm_fdin-1097 2d.s2. 165741073us : __i915_request_submit: 0000:00:02.0 rcs0: fence 3:4660, current 4659 <0>[ 167.303044] drm_fdin-1097 2d.s1. 165741076us : execlists_submission_tasklet: 0000:00:02.0 rcs0: context:3 schedule-in, ccid:40 <0>[ 167.303095] drm_fdin-1097 2d.s1. 165741077us : trace_ports: 0000:00:02.0 rcs0: submit { ccid:40 3:4660* prio 2147483646 } <0>[ 167.303159] kworker/-89 11..... 165741139us : i915_request_retire.part.0: 0000:00:02.0 rcs0: fence c90:2, current 2 <0>[ 167.303208] kworker/-89 11..... 165741148us : __intel_context_do_unpin: 0000:00:02.0 rcs0: context:c90 unpin <0>[ 167.303272] kworker/-89 11..... 165741159us : i915_request_retire.part.0: 0000:00:02.0 rcs0: fence 1217:2, current 2 <0>[ 167.303321] kworker/-89 11..... 165741166us : __intel_context_do_unpin: 0000:00:02.0 rcs0: context:1217 unpin <0>[ 167.303384] kworker/-89 11..... 165741170us : i915_request_retire.part.0: 0000:00:02.0 rcs0: fence 3:4660, current 4660 <0>[ 167.303434] kworker/-89 11d..1. 165741172us : __intel_context_retire: 0000:00:02.0 rcs0: context:1216 retire runtime: { total:56028ns, avg:56028ns } <0>[ 167.303484] kworker/-89 11..... 165741198us : __engine_park: 0000:00:02.0 rcs0: parked <0>[ 167.303534] <idle>-0 5d.H3. 165741207us : execlists_irq_handler: 0000:00:02.0 rcs0: semaphore yield: 00000040 <0>[ 167.303583] kworker/-89 11..... 165741397us : __intel_context_retire: 0000:00:02.0 rcs0: context:1217 retire runtime: { total:325575ns, avg:0ns } <0>[ 167.303756] kworker/-89 11..... 165741777us : __intel_context_retire: 0000:00:02.0 rcs0: context:c90 retire runtime: { total:0ns, avg:0ns } <0>[ 167.303806] kworker/-89 11..... 165742017us : __engine_park: __engine_park:283 GEM_BUG_ON(engine->sched_engine->queue_priority_hint != (-((int)(~0U >> 1)) - 1)) <0>[ 167.303811] --------------------------------- <4>[ 167.304722] ------------[ cut here ]------------ <2>[ 167.304725] kernel BUG at drivers/gpu/drm/i915/gt/intel_engine_pm.c:283! <4>[ 167.304731] invalid opcode: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP NOPTI <4>[ 167.304734] CPU: 11 PID: 89 Comm: kworker/11:1 Tainted: G W 6.8.0-rc2-CI_DRM_14193-gc655e0fd2804+ #1 <4>[ 167.304736] Hardware name: Intel Corporation Rocket Lake Client Platform/RocketLake S UDIMM 6L RVP, BIOS RKLSFWI1.R00.3173.A03.2204210138 04/21/2022 <4>[ 167.304738] Workqueue: i915-unordered retire_work_handler [i915] <4>[ 167.304839] RIP: 0010:__engine_park+0x3fd/0x680 [i915] <4>[ 167.304937] Code: 00 48 c7 c2 b0 e5 86 a0 48 8d 3d 00 00 00 00 e8 79 48 d4 e0 bf 01 00 00 00 e8 ef 0a d4 e0 31 f6 bf 09 00 00 00 e8 03 49 c0 e0 <0f> 0b 0f 0b be 01 00 00 00 e8 f5 61 fd ff 31 c0 e9 34 fd ff ff 48 <4>[ 167.304940] RSP: 0018:ffffc9000059fce0 EFLAGS: 00010246 <4>[ 167.304942] RAX: 0000000000000200 RBX: 0000000000000000 RCX: 0000000000000006 <4>[ 167.304944] RDX: 0000000000000000 RSI: 0000000000000000 RDI: 0000000000000009 <4>[ 167.304946] RBP: ffff8881330ca1b0 R08: 0000000000000001 R09: 0000000000000001 <4>[ 167.304947] R10: 0000000000000001 R11: 0000000000000001 R12: ffff8881330ca000 <4>[ 167.304948] R13: ffff888110f02aa0 R14: ffff88812d1d0205 R15: ffff88811277d4f0 <4>[ 167.304950] FS: 0000000000000000(0000) GS:ffff88844f780000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 <4>[ 167.304952] CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 <4>[ 167.304953] CR2: 00007fc362200c40 CR3: 000000013306e003 CR4: 0000000000770ef0 <4>[ 167.304955] PKRU: 55555554 <4>[ 167.304957] Call Trace: <4>[ 167.304958] <TASK> <4>[ 167.305573] ____intel_wakeref_put_last+0x1d/0x80 [i915] <4>[ 167.305685] i915_request_retire.part.0+0x34f/0x600 [i915] <4>[ 167.305800] retire_requests+0x51/0x80 [i915] <4>[ 167.305892] intel_gt_retire_requests_timeout+0x27f/0x700 [i915] <4>[ 167.305985] process_scheduled_works+0x2db/0x530 <4>[ 167.305990] worker_thread+0x18c/0x350 <4>[ 167.305993] kthread+0xfe/0x130 <4>[ 167.305997] ret_from_fork+0x2c/0x50 <4>[ 167.306001] ret_from_fork_asm+0x1b/0x30 <4>[ 167.306004] </TASK> It is necessary for the queue_priority_hint to be lower than the next request submission upon waking up, as we rely on the hint to decide when to kick the tasklet to submit that first request. Hello Max,
Please help me - full understood support procedure add new audio codec decoder for Xtensa HiFi DSP.
If I.MX8 SOC support Tellisica HIFi4 core, it's possible add support new codec Dolby AC-4.
=============PS=================
