In #2152 I noted that symbolic links are ignored. this is apparently a result of safe mode. What else does it do?

On http://jekyllrb.com/docs/configuration/ there are docs for safe mode, but they're limited. We should expand it to include mention of symlinks as well.

Indeed, as I had read this page before my first question. Does safe mode have any other effects then symlinks and plugins? If that is all it does I'll update the documentation and send a pull request.
