Request: Make chat less spaced apart by default

Right now the chat is spread very far apart on a 1080p monitor, maybe making it a bit more constrained would be a bit better?

As you can see that's quite a bit of distance between my message and the other person's reply.

@dillfrescott thanks for bringing this up! I think it makes a lot of sense to give the chat transcript a reasonable maximum width. Along with that, I'd like to default the side bars to the open state on wider screens to make a better use of the space.
