Ancestral MP Network in PopART is Maximum Parsimony as in Kannan & Wheeler (2012)?

Hello,

I used Ancestral MP Network in PopART to infer haplotype network. I use it as its provide the best network according to this Kannan and Wheeler article. As the PopART documentation and publication did not provide any clarity on the relation between these two methods, I was wondering if Ancestral MP Network is the same as Maximum Parsimony?
