There are two separate issues here.

One is \boldsymbol. If you like, submit a bug report on jgm/texmath.

The other is the align environment. Here I think I see what's going on. Pandoc expects display math in mediawiki to start with one colon + <math>. You have two colons, which pandoc ends up interpreting as a definition list. I think the solution is to have pandoc allow multiple colons for display math, since users may choose different levels of indentation.

OK. I see the issue. Sure I will file a bug report. It looks like some error message with nested equations...
