Link GloBI to http://opentreeoflife.org taxa to support the following workflow:

  1. find parasite-host pair
  2. retrieve phylogenetic subtree for both parasite and host
  3. analyze and visualize the common properties of parasite and host.

First pass of linking is using previously resolved gbif, ncbi taxon ids and cross referencing against the Open Tree of Life Reference Taxonomy and Open Tree of Life Tip Tree.

OpenTree of Life taxon ids can now be used in combination with GloBI API to lookup interactions. For instance, Homo sapiens has OTT id 770315 and can be used to lookup all prey items of humans using: http://api.globalbioticinteractions.org/taxon/OTT%3A770315/preysOn . Alternatively, http://api.globalbioticinteractions.org/interaction?sourceTaxon=OTT%3A770315 shows all interactions with Homo sapiens as a source taxon.
