This is a web application that allows users to see an estimation of how much it would cost to travel from the United States to any other country and the cost of staying there per day. The estimation includes travel fees, cost of food, transportation, and average cost of a room. Application is hosted on AWS and runs on a React frontend framework and Python on the backend through AWS Lambda functions. All data is gathered through 3rd party APIs and gather key data we are looking for.
Before building this application, I had traveled to a couple countries for vacation but one thing I did not keep in mind was how massive things like food, cost of stay, and local transportation would vary in cost depending on the country. I would have been great to get a heads up on how much I was about to spend on these trips and would have greatly influenced me if I knew before hand. At the same time I also wanted to get hands on experience with the React frontend framework and AWS services and found that this application was the perfect opportunity for me to do so.
