JWM Branding: fix logo do menu icon and wallpaper #204
Comments
I like it! |
@Israel- i got the source in SVG. I like the modern ribbon looks cool good approach for an icon, the one i done is a prototype with a more Retro look better suited for wallpapers. |
These are pretty cool. I really like the simplicity of the icons. One of these would be good for the "start" button in the default configuration or even as the background. |
We can't post SVG to github comments... but if you have specific colors you like it is very easy to change these images. |
@joewing @Israel- Modern can also be done. I dont know wen but i will work out this logo. |
I like the simplicity of the merged letters. Looks good. On Wed, Aug 12, 2015 at 7:25 PM, Vitor Lopes notifications@github.com

I've let this sit around for too long. I'd really like to get this incorporated into both JWM and the webpage. I think the default JWM configuration should reference these and the "install" make target should copy them to $PREFIX/share/jwm/icons or something. My primary concern is that the logo requires multiple colors, which makes things complicated for having multiple color schemes. Also, different ,sizes pose problems. For these reasons, I've considered replicating the logo programatically inside of JWM to generate whatever size and colors are needed, however, I think that might be overkill. Perhaps the thing to do is just provide several popular choices. @Israel- / @vmnlopes: would you mind posting the SVG or opening a pull request to add it to "jwm/contrib" or something? Some colors I think would be good would be #0077CC/#CC7700 with #000000 or dark-gray (given that those are some colors that JWM has used as defaults in the past). Other options would certainly be welcome as well, though I don't want to take up too much space. It might be useful to have PNG, XPM, and/or XBM (if possible) versions as well. I can generate those if needed, though. |
Usually (and I think this is the case as well), there are 3 variants of a logo. A variant which is used for white background, then a variant used for dark/black background and the third one is a black&white version. In many cases the second variant (for dark/black background) is omitted. So yes, we will need to change some colors in the proposed logos, but maybe only the white color in the "Ride Your Desktop" variant. |

These are great! |
Wow, they look really awesome! Thank you @Israel-, @technosaurus, @01micko. I think though, that we're in 2016 and most of the systems (including embedded ones) support more colors than just 2 (black and white). Would it be possible to use XPM3 with colors instead of XBM? |
congratulations to the artists, liked all! |
i changed the color to follow the colors of the current version of Manjaro JWM http://www.auplod.com/u/dluoap7727e.png i did not like, blurred image.... ps: how to add image in git? |
@joewing
Since JWM does not have a logo, this morning i decided to make you one, hope you like it!
