What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Upload code
2. Load in browser, get error 500
3. read server error log

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
expected to see interface, instead blank page.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.0 on debian 7

Does this problem still occur in master (or release 1.3)? If so, could you temporarily add display_errors = on to your php.ini, and post the results?
