Hi everybody,

i try to edit the contact category layout.
i followed this tutorial: http://docs.joomla.org/J3.x:How_to_use_the_Template_Manager#Creating_Overrides

sadly it does not work.
if i change something in the overriding PHP Files, it does not append on the website.

have i missed something to apply the overriding template / Layout?

Thank you & kind regards

Could you provide the path to your override?

Yeah. It looks fine though. Which Joomla version are you using?

Which files in the category view are you trying to override?

i try to override default_items.php (the view that lists items of a category)

when i edit this file - for example i add a "TEST" string somwhere in HTML Area - nothing changes on the page.
i read somewhere in a forum - that this could be a bug of joomla itself, that the override of contact does not work correctly - but i dont know if this is really it...

Justed tested this. I can't reproduce the problem.

so if you change the default_items.php - for example with a TEST string - it shows up on your template?

Yea. Take a look here:

Ahh okay. You have a wrong structure on your override

It should be:

yes i saw that on your printscdreen - but this structure was created by my template oO
i moved the files now to the parent directory.
but it does not change the way it looks.

shall i maybe delete the whole category folder and let joomla re-create them?

sorry - after purging all caches it worked with moving the files.
thank you very much for your fast support here :)

Great it worked out

but sometimes it acts really strange.
if i upload the file via FTP (Filezilla) i wait few minutes till the changes are on the page visible...
can that be or is there maybe some hosting problems?

found it - global configuration - check caching to disabled - and the changes happen directly.

thanks for your support again :)
