How can I add relative URLs to the menu via pageRef?

The section on the start site (layout 'profile') has the anchor "#experience". But using this anchor as a parameter in pageRef does not work, the href is empty. How do I tell pageRef to link to this section (stored in _index.md)?

Looking at the entry on pageRef in the Hugo Docs, it seems to be complicated, since I'm using _index.md as a reference. Renaming the file to index.md, however, destroys the landing page (it's not in profile layout anymore). Anyone any suggestions?

Sorry to spam this thread, but the problem can be solved using the parameter URL, and not pageRef.
