Description

Expansion of extruding cut dimensions on the upper left-hand switch cavity. An additional cutout has been made to allow an additional 1/3" of cable routing space.

The following changes have been made:

  1. The Upper Center Pedestal Face Extrude cut shape of the Upper Left Switch has been changed from a circular one to a semi-circle with 2x .1" rounded corner circles, allowing the extra clearance around the Left Inboard Footwell Wall
  2. AMPCD - CRS-HDG Base Support Expansion of the circular extrude-cut to match the cutout of the Pedestal Face. The newly expanded void has been fully filleted internally to allow 3D printing without the need for support material.

Type of change

  • Change MCAD (fixed issue with existing MCAD model)
  • Bug fix (non-breaking change which fixes an issue)
  • This change requires a documentation update - Within the AMPCD module drawing that I am creating already, drawings will be updated.

How Has This Been Tested?

Please describe the tests that you ran to verify your changes. Provide instructions so we can reproduce. Please also list any relevant details for your test configuration

  • Test A | Visual inspection + Interference Detection module within Solidworks Premium 2019 to ensure no interference exists. Test Successful.

AMPCD Base Support Cable Routing V1

  • Test B | Export of the AMPCD - CRS-HDG Base Support as an STL and tested within PrusaSlicer V2.2.0 using a simulated worst-case test case of a .6mm Nozzle and support material turned on to ensure additional support material is not required due to the changes. Furthermore, it was used to test that all wall thicknesses stayed within acceptably thick levels. This test was successful.

Test Configuration:

  • Firmware version: PrusaSlicer V2.2.0
  • Hardware: Prusa i3Mk3s w/0.6mm Nozzle as Printer within PrusaSlicer

Checklist:

MCAD:

  • Model is in SolidWorks 2019 format
  • Design intent and requirements have been met
  • Design has been fit checked to ensure no interferences exist
  • Design has been integrated into Next Higher Assembly (NHA)

The wall thickness in the slicer (particularly between clearance hole and hole patterns) looks a tad insufficient. Recommend pocket cutting the footwell walls to achieve the required clearance in lieu of modifying the AMPCD module stucture.

Great PR write up though. Absolutely setting the standard. Thanks!

As per feedback, the additional cutout in the AMPCD - CRS-HDG Base Support has been removed.

A pocket within the Left Inboard Footwell Wall has been created to produce the same desired cable clearance whilst not creating any thin walls inside other parts.
