ess-breakerofchains

Emacs (ESS) interface to MilesMcBains BreakerOfChains R library

Install and Suggested Configuration

This package is currently only on GitHub. Easiest way to install is with straight, el-get, quelpa or the like. Alternatively you can clone and install locally. The configuration below uses straight and use-package.

(use-package ess-breakerofchains
  :straight (ess-breakerofchains
             :type git :host github :repo "jsilve24/ess-breakerofchains")
  :config
  (define-key ess-r-mode-map "<C-S-return>" #'ess-boc-break-chain))

Note: This package requires a sister R package to work properly. That sister package is included in this repo and is called ESSBreakerOfChains and it has only a single function called ess_break_chains. To prevent myself from having to think about if that sister package is loaded or installed when trying to call ess-boc-break-chain from Emacs, I opted to have the ess-boc-break-chain package load/install ESSBreakerOfChains automatically when needed. If you would prefer to change this behavior, you can edit the variable ess-boc-require-string. For example here is a setting that causes the ess-boc-break-chain to simply load the library if it is present but to otherwise return an error.

(setq ess-boc-require-string
 "if (!('ESSBreakerOfChains' %in% (.packages()))) {
    # If not already loaded...
    installed <- require('ESSBreakerOfChains')
    stopifnot(installed, 'ESSBreakerOfChains is not installed')
  }")
