For the record, I've been playing around with SSA name data for at least a couple years and I have the shitty Ruby scripts to prove it. I was also thinking of using it for my class and/or making a baby-name-junk-site for profit, so just staking my claim

Also fun is the Census last names data: http://www.census.gov/genealogy/www/data/1990surnames/names_files.html

That last-name data does look fun. And the Census seems to have posted data for the last two go-rounds, too:
