Welcome to the R for Excel Users Pilot Workshop!

Come say hello:

  • Instructors: Julie Lowndes & Allison Horst

In the workshop we'll use the sticky notes to indicate whether everything is OK (blue) or not (pink).

Please do the following, then put a blue sticky note up on your laptop.

Connect to UCSB guest wifi (https://www.news.ucsb.edu/2019/019657/new-guest-wi-fi):

  • Select “UCSB Wireless Web” from the network options
  • choose “Guest Registration” under the credential login
  • Once registered, you’ll receive an SMS or text message with a username and password, which will last for seven days.
  1. Download & install R: https://cloud.r-project.org
  2. Download & install RStudio: http://www.rstudio.com/download
  3. Create a GitHub account: https://github.com Note! Shorter names that kind of identify you are better, and use your work email!
  4. Download & install Git: https://git-scm.com/downloads Note: open the download and follow normal install procedures on your computer but you won't see any software installed when you're done
  5. Download this Google folder of data

And put up a pink sticky note if you need help.
