ENG STEP BY STEP: how to install VFT Flight Throttle

Currently VFT only supports Android devices and Windows. Please install VFT Flight Throttle app on your mobile device first. You can install the app from the Play Store or download the APK file from the release page. Please install VFT on your mobile device before proceeding. :P

Installation and running are four major steps:

• Install vJoy
• Configure vJoy (Optional, Recommended)
• Download and run VFT Device Server
• Make sure everything is normal (Optional)

The installation and launch process will normally take about 3 minutes except when the PC is rebooted.

1. Download and install vJoy

vJoy is a virtual joystick driver for Windows. VFT Flight Throttle works with vJoy's virtual joystick driver, so you need to install vJoy to use VFT Flight Throttle. Go to the http://vjoystick.sourceforge.net/site/index.php/download-a-install/download link and download and install vJoy for your OS version. It is recommended that you do not change the installation options during installation.

Possible problem: No further progress.

During the vJoy installation process, the screen below may not proceed anymore. This is a bug in vJoy itself, which means that vJoy and its components are already installed and ready for use. You can ignore the vJoy installation window and proceed directly to step 2 or 3.

2. Recommended: Change vJoy Settings

VJoy only supports 3 axes and 30 buttons by default. However, VFT Flight Throttle supports 8 axes and 128 buttons. To use all the functions, you need to configure 8 axes and 128 buttons using Configure vJoy.

1. OPen Configure vJoy

You can easily find the Configure vJoy app by pressing the Windows key and typing Configure vJoy into the search box. If you run the Configure vJoy app properly, you will see the following screen.

2. Enable 8 axes

Check all the boxes in Axes shown on the right. If all boxes are checked, a total of 8 axes will be activated and available.

3. Enable 128 buttons

Change the contents of the number box inside the Number of buttons to the maximum value of 128. If you change the contents of the number box to 128, a total of 128 buttons will be activated.

4. Reboot your PC to save settings

Press the Apply button on the bottom to apply the changed settings. Don't worry if the program stops responding for a while. A window will appear asking if you want to reboot within about 10 ~ 20 seconds. If you select Reboot immediately to reboot the PC, the settings will take effect.

1. Download and run VFT Device Server

You can download the VFT Device Server for Windows by going to the release page, clicking on Assets and clicking vft-device-server-windows-x.x.x.zip to download it.

2. Extract VFT Device Server

Extract downloaded vft-device-server-windows-x.x.x.zip to the appropriate location. Since this is not an app installed on your PC, you have to run it manually every time you boot.

3. Run VFT Device Server

Double click vft_device_server_windows.exe in the extracted folder to launch the VFT Device Server. If you receive a Windows Defender Firewall warning screen, select Allow the connection. If you do not allow the connection, the VFT Device Server will not work properly. If you run the VFT Device Server app normally, you will see the following screen.

Now you can go back to the VFT Flight Throttle app on your phone or tablet and go network settings page to see one of your enabled device server. Tap on an active device to connect the VFT Flight Throttle app to the VFT Device Server and you are all set! 🎉

4. Verify that input is feeding normally

You can find the Monitor vJoy app by pressing the Windows key and typing Monitor vJoy. Monitor vJoy is an app that shows the status of the vJoy driver. You can check various inputs by operating various buttons and sliders in the VFT Flight Throttle app.

5. TroubleShooting

Here are some solutions to some of the common problems I can predict during the installation. If you have an exceptional problem that is not listed below, please email junghyun397@gmail.com and i will be happy to assist you.

1. Joystick is not recognized.

The setting you changed in step 2 may be an issue. Go back to step 2 and press the Reset All button. If you do this, the VFT will only support 3 axes and 30 buttons, but you will be able to solve most compatibility issues.

2. I ran the VFT Device Server, but I can't see it in the list.

Please make sure your phone or tablet is on the same network as your computer (same router). VFT Flight Throttle scans the internal IPs in the LAN to find the PC running the VFT Device Server. If your phone or tablet is connected to a mobile network (3G, 4G, 5G, etc.) or connected to a computer and other router, the VFT will not work properly.

설치 및 실행 과정은 PC가 재부팅 되는 시간을 제외하면 일반적인 경우 약 3분 정도 걸릴 것입니다.

1. vJoy 다운로드 및 설치하기

vJoy는 Windows용 가상 조이스틱 드라이버 입니다. VFT Flight Throttle은 vJoy의 가상 조이스틱 드라이버를 이용해 작동 하므로, VFT Flight Throttle을 이용하기 위해서는 vJoy를 설치할 필요가 있습니다. http://vjoystick.sourceforge.net/site/index.php/download-a-install/download에 들어가서 자신의 OS버전에 맞는 vJoy를 다운로드 받고 설치해 주세요. 설치 과정에서 설치 옵션을 변경하지 않는 것을 권장합니다.

발생할 수 있는 문제점: 더 이상 진행되지 않습니다.

vJoy 설치 과정 중에 아래와 같은 화면에서 더 이상 진행되지 않는 경우가 있습니다. 이는 vJoy자체의 버그로, 이미 vJoy와 그 구성 요소들은 설치가 완료 되어 사용할 준비가 된 상황입니다. vJoy설치 창을 무시하고 바로 2번 또는 3번 과정으로 넘어가시면 됩니다.

2. 권장: vJoy 설정 변경하기

VJoy는 기본 설정에서 3개의 축과 30개의 버튼만을 지원 합니다. 하지만 VFT Flight Throttle에서는 8개의 축과 128개의 버튼을 지원합니다. 모든 기능을 사용하기 위해서는 '''Configure vJoy'''를 이용해 8개의 축과 128개의 버튼을 지원하도록 설정하는 과정이 필요합니다.

1. Configure vJoy를 열기

윈도우 키를 누른 뒤, 검색창에 '''Configure vJoy'''를 입력 한다면 '''Configure vJoy'''앱을 쉽게 찾아낼 수 있을 것입니다. 제대로 Configure vJoy앱을 실행 했다면, 다음과 같은 화면을 보실 수 있습니다.

2. 8개의 축을 사용하도록 설정

오른쪽에 보이는 '''Axes'''에 있는 모든 박스를 선택해 주세요. 모든 박스를 선택 했다면 총 8개의 축이 활성화 되어 사용 가능하게 됩니다.

3. 128개의 버튼을 사용하도록 설정

'''Number of buttons''' 안에 있는 숫자 박스의 내용을 최댓값인 128로 변경 해주세요. 숫자 박스의 내용을 128로 변경 했다면 총 128개의 버튼이 활성화 되어 사용 가능하게 됩니다.

4. PC를 재부팅해서 설정 저장

하단에 보이는 '''Apply'''버튼을 누르면 변경된 설정이 적용됩니다. 잠시 프로그램 응답 없음이 떠도 걱정하지 마세요. 약 10~20초 이내에 재부팅 여부를 묻는 창이 나오며, 이 창에서 즉시 재부팅을 선택해 PC를 재부팅 하면 설정이 적용 됩니다.

3. VFT Device Server 다운로드 및 실행하기

VFT Flight Throttle에서 보내는 데이터를 수신해 PC에 적용하기 위해서는 vJoy가상 조이스틱 드라이버에 VFT Flight Throttle 앱이 생성한 입력을 전달하는 VFT Device Server를 다운로드 받은 뒤 실행해야 합니다.

1. VFT Device Server를 다운로드

[https://github.com/junghyun397/VirtualThrottle/releases 릴리스] 페이지에 들어가 '''Assets'''를 클릭 한 뒤 '''vft-device-server-windows-x.x.x.zip'''를 클릭해 다운로드 받으면 윈도우용 VFT Device Server를 내려받을 수 있습니다.

2. VFT Device Server 압축 해제

다운로드 받은 '''vft-device-server-windows-x.x.x.zip'''을 적절한 위치에 압축 해제 해주세요. PC에 설치되는 앱이 아니기 때문에, 새로 부팅 할 때마다 수동으로 실행 시켜줘야 합니다.

3. VFT Device Server 실행

압축 해제된 폴더 안에 '''vft_device_server_windows.exe'''를 더블 클릭해 VFT Device Server를 실행 합니다. Windows Defender 방화벽 경고 화면이 나온다면, 연결 허용을 선택해 주세요. 연결을 허용하지 않을 경우 VFT Device Server가 정상적으로 동작하지 않습니다. 정상적으로 VFT Device Server 앱을 실행 했다면, 다음과 같은 화면을 보실 수 있습니다.

이제 다시 휴대폰이나 태블릿에 설치된 VFT Flight Throttle 앱으로 돌아가서, 네트워크 설정 페이지에 들어 가보면 활성화된 디바이스 하나를 확인 하실 수 있을 것 입니다. 활성화된 디바이스를 눌러 VFT Flight Throttle 앱과 VFT Device Server를 연결 하면 모든 설정이 완료된 것 입니다! 🎉

4. 선택: 정상적으로 입력이 전달되는지 확인하기

윈도우 키를 누르고 '''Monitor vJoy'''를 타이핑해 '''Monitor vJoy'''앱을 찾을 수 있습니다. '''Monitor vJoy는 vJoy'''드라이버의 상태를 보여주는 앱으로, VFT Flight Throttle 앱에서 여러 버튼과 슬라이더를 조작 해보며 정상적인 입력이 들어가는지 확인 해볼 수 있습니다.

5. 문제 해결하기

1. 조이스틱 인식이 되지 않습니다.

2번 과정에서 변경한 설정이 문제가 될 수 있습니다. 2번 설정으로 돌아가서 "Reset All"버튼을 눌러주세요. 이 과정을 수행할 경우 VFT는 3개의 축과 30개의 버튼만을 지원하게 되지만, 대부분의 호환성 문제를 해결 할 수 있을 것입니다.

2. VFT Device Server를 실행 했지만, 목록에서 보이지 않습니다.

휴대전화나 태블릿이 컴퓨터와 동일한 네트워크(동일한 공유기)에 있는지 확인해 주세요. VFT Flight Throttle은 LAN 환경에서 내부 IP들을 스캔해서 VFT Device Server가 실행되고 있는 PC 찾아 냅니다. 만약 휴대전화나 태블릿이 모바일 네트워크 (3G, 4G, 5G등)에 연결돼 있거나 컴퓨터와 다른 공유기에 연결 되어 있다면 VFT는 정상적으로 작동하지 않습니다.
