This PR adds the final pieces of documentation that I think is relevant to cut a 1.0.0. I hope that we can get this merged today or tomorrow and that we can go for 1.0.0 tomorrow.
I don't have time to iterate much on this and hope it can be seen as an incremenetal improvement having this as a starting point.
