  • How can I increase the auto-suggestion column height and, if possible, the number of columns displayed; so that hint-results appear like a grid-of-hints after hitting the tab button.

  • Also, what configuration makes the auto-suggestion box automatically appear without having to press the button?

I think both of these require JupyterLab code changes. Would you like us to point out the relevant parts of the codebase so you can work on these? I think they both sound interesting to have.

As for auto suggestions, you might find the inspector useful (Cmd/Ctrl I, and see also the command palette entry). It has automatic suggestions as you type.
