Actually, yes this wouldn't be hard to do. In this use case, do you want the normal s{char}{char} behavior to also work as normal, and you simply want <enter> to cut the input short?

Exactly, e.g. fbu fowards to 'bu' and fb<enter> forwards to just 'b'.
